Maybe a little bit of a hackjob, but if they were done a little cleaner it might look pretty slick, light output would probably be quite a bit better too:

I feel like with a little bit of bondo and cutting they could fit better and look really nice. I'm so tempted to get a drivers headlight and test fit it in one of my old header panels.

IIRC there is another rig out there with XK headlights. They look real nice if the install is done with some care. Reminds me of a j truck grill.

I think if anyone can make it work it's you.

You could use the lower reflector for your signal markers, and convert the upper reflector with a bi-xenon projector set-up.

Yes that could work, but I was actually thinking of cutting into the silver housing around the headlight reflectors, and added some bulb mounting points, that way the whole housing around the headlights could lightup orange for a turn signal, that could be cool.

I don't know what you are running for side markers right now (TJ, XJ on the header panel, or both) but I wouldn't light up the whole housing.
The rig in the picture would look better with the 97+ marker shaved, leaving the TJ lamp.

The Commander lights look badass on an XJ, I think better than the 2500 conversion.

X2 on that one

I'd say to go for it, but then I like the way XK lights look on XJs (or MJs, for that matter).

This one was converted fairly recently, btw.

Man, all those pictures but not a single quality shot of the finished products.

You know... Pending a decent comparison of Commander light output vs. XJ (note that I don't expect the XJ to win this one), if someone were to do a run of those panels I think I might be interested in one. Just throwing it out there.

I think that the whole package makes those lights look good; just installing the lights without the flares/bumper/etc might look funny.

This was about the best quick find I could do on a picture:

Personally, I think it's OK - wish that one had at least some semblance of a bumper in there (as well as the space at the bottom of the lights filled in) to get a better idea, but it seems like it could work. See the photochop below:

I dunno, it seems workable. Has to be done 100% right, though.

Kinda wondering now if Commander flares could be made to work on an XJ for opening up the wheel wells... Kinda on the fence about that one, though.

That's a good PS job.

I dunno, I'm kind of on the fence. Any way to PS it onto a couple of randomly picked XJs? I still think it requires the 'whole shebang' to look right. Maybe I'm just picky.

Yup. My only concern with it is if whoever did it altered the dimensions of the headlights to fit into the XJ's grille, in which case it's not accurate. Can't really tell if that's the case or not, so I may very well be overthinking it.

I'll leave that one as an exercise for anyone with actual Photoshop skills; God knows that's not me...

Shouldn't be too hard to find the relative sizes of the lights and the XJ front end, then compare them and figure out if they are the right size. not a job for myself, however.
