XJ or MJ

The front is the same, the rear, MJ springs are longer.

Discos are cool, but parts are expensive and not nearly as plentiful. Not to mention the 90's models had British electrics and were largely prone to problems. A girl I knew in my auto shop a few years back went from XJ to Disco and when she saw mine (tiny lift, 30's) got all nostalgic, wishing she still had her XJ. She'd had nothing but problems with her Disco. Or check the pictures from SoCal Fest 2009. You'll see a dead Disco being towed over John Bull by one of the XJ's in our group. Group of 3, had problems coming up a section of trail, one developed an engine problem while winching, killed the battery and wouldn't take a jump.

actually im really digging this land rover disco thats for sale.

Both Xjs and Discos are cool in my book, but i only know how to fix ONE of them lol.
I almost bought one a few years back, im glad i didnt. My buddy had one and he hated it, big and slow, even compared to the XJ. He went and got a civic si
(loooser!! haha)

my mother in law has a disco, i think its a 99. she bought it to go camping with us when i take the wife and kids out in the XJ, she said she wanted something a little fancier than my beat up jeep.
so far my beat up jeep has towed her off the side of the freeway 3 times, and her fancy disco has spent more time in the shop than any car i have ever owned, and she has spent over $4k keeping it on the road. i keep reminding her all my XJ ever needs is gas :D

Most quadcab MJs are XJs chopped at the C pillar and caged. Never seen anyone incorporate the full MJ bed, just cut at the glass line of an XJ and have a 3 foot bed.
If anyone gets a six foot bed + four doors, let me know...

That's what I was thinking. What you could possibly do is weld together the back half of the MJ onto the C-pillar-forward of the XJ. Granted you'd have to probably plate the heck out of the unibody there.
Man now I wanna do this. Maybe even take a longbed so that I could have the ultimate redneck limo.

Well yeah, because the rear section of MJ frame is fully boxed; so the bed is removable. You'd have to create new 'frame' on the back of the XJ to stick the bed onto.

TNT,on here and Comanche Club, needs to chime in.He was planning a extended/double cab MJ build.Unfortunatly,I think health issues put the kabosh on the project.:(
