XJ LA Lift setup: Wanna get it right the first time *

Well piecing this kit together is putting me over 2k...
Now we are in RE/clayton territory...decision...decisions...

http://www.rdmoffroad.com/Rubicon-Express-Jeep-XJ/MJ-Extreme-Duty-Long-Arm-Kit.aspx

And honestly, with how little I will actually be wheeling rather than DD...it may be better for me to just go RC and buy the Curries JJ's for it. Man, its never ending.

If you wait a while they will already have currie joints included. RC is working on replacing their unreliable joints with either currie bushings or entire joints. We just don't know when it'll be released.

seriousoffroad's longarms look great for the money, I would go with BDS spings(good warrenty), clayton trackbar system, a set of brakelines formwhich ever company you choose and some bilsteins, re bumpstops upfront and curries rear bumpstops.

Look on the NAXJA classifieds, Race-Dezert, craigslist, etc, and you can find good deals on used parts. That could save you a lot of money.

Thanks alot guys!
I did just grab some RC leaf springs from the MW chapter..so it has begun.

Looks like im gonna go with the Serious LongArms.
Now I just need to decide which steering setup to go with...

Serious Steering or IRO steering? Which would you choose and why?
What else do I need to complete the steering upgrade?

Thanks again for the input fellas. Greatly appreciated :patriot:

i am in a similar boat. going to LA's, new coils, leafs, SYE, gears, and steering... anyway this thread is great

im also seriously considering the serious LA kit, but why do i hear some say that a y-link set-up isnt that great...? i understand a 4-link is the best way to go and then there is the 3-link that doesnt get much love.

sorry to the OP... not trying to jack the thread

Are you not looking at actual long arms kits or just radius arms kits? The BDS 4 link upgrade kit gets you all the arms and the mount for pretty close to what you are looking to spend on a radius kit. Just a thought.

I went with IRO steering and trackbar. Have yet to install the steering, but the track bar went on nice and easy and seems to have improved the ride a bit.

Well i don't have a link but call BDS and they will give you the part numbers and tell you the price. Also Froehlich suspension has a 3 link and a 4link kit. There is also Rock Krawler's 3 link. It doesn't get very good reviews though. Poly performance has a 3 link and a 4 link kit also.
Clayton offroad has a 3 link and a 4 link.

I love my Rock Krawler 3 link. Great flex, beefy arms, and while I've heard from a couple people the joints were bad, I've heard from more that they're fine, and in my 2-3 yrs on it, I've not had a problem with the joints. They haven't been greased since I installed it either.

Thought I would update the thread:
I ended up ordering the SeriousLongArms and 1 ton UTK from FrankZ.
Will be piecing the rest together by the time it all gets here.

Will have before and after pics!
Looking forward to it!

FrankZ seems like a good guy to deal with, ill keep this updated.

:yelclap:

im going to keep an eye on this thread cuz ur build sounds dam near close to mine. (if you have a patriot blue 01 xj this is going to get weird) ordered the same things u did from frank and he seems like a good guy. now im just waiting on the parts

Ok guys! Getting really close, and parts are starting to get here!
Wanted to update the thread, to keep it alive.
Lots of great info for everyone to reference. The pics and fun stuff is next!
This is the gear I went with:
Serious LongArms http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.co...cts_ id=77863
Serious Offroad UTK 1 Ton steering
Iron Rock Offroad Double shear track bar/bracket
RR HD SYE and front auto cherokee driveshaft
RC 4.5 Coils
RC Quick discos
RC Shackle Relocation boxes
RC 3" Leaf Springs
RC 2.2 shocks
13-4100 Shackles (vatozone)
(5) 15x8 Soft 8 / BFG AT KO 31x10.5 (for now)
Just waiting on 4wheelparts (SLOW) to get out the boxes, discos and coils...some brake lines at vatozone..and we are rockin'

The long arms and steering showed up today. Can you say B E E F!
Amazing customer service over at SeriousOffRoad.
I will say the gear looks solid, and well done. However, the finish leaves alot to be desired..which is OK as long as the FIT is there!

The IRO double shear track bar and bracket is a work of art!

The RR HD SYE and driveshaft I got for what seemed like a great deal on feebay $205 shipped both
Why RC 2.2? Came across them on the forums for $94 shipped, barely used. So, I figure these will get me back on the road (DD)...and I can measure for bilstiens later.

So all in all, I tried to save a buck here and there...we will see how it works out very soon. If you are still reading this, thanks!
Pics and fun stuff are coming!

:peace:

Really intereted in this thread... Do you have prices of where your at so far? Also, can't wait to see the pics!
Sure thing, quoted below. Its kinda hard to gauge as I got a couple deals on the forums. Prices listed are shipped prices.
I will have pics of everything hopefully next week, if all goes well.

Serious LongArms http://www.seriousoffroadproducts.co...cts_ id=77863
Serious Offroad UTK 1 Ton steering
$1100
Iron Rock Offroad Double shear track bar/bracket $237 (with new RC ubolts)
RR HD SYE and front auto cherokee driveshaft $205
RC 4.5 Coils..
RC Quick discos..
RC Shackle Relocation boxes..$318
RC 3" Leaf Springs $167
RC 2.2 shocks $94
13-4100 Shackles (vatozone) $45
(5) 15x8 Soft 8 / BFG AT KO 31x10.5

So just over $2150 not counting wheels/tires.
I think that is pretty decent for a moderate "bolt on" setup..including 1 ton steering. Sure, thats coming close to some of the "better name" kits...but with my personal capabilities, its a perfect setup for me.

Hoping to get everything on next week!
Pics to come.
