Wtf?

Dear Forum Fixer,

In today's e-mail I received a LOT of messages from , all titled "XXXX Update" (where XXXX is a thread title). I just checked my user preferences, and I am not subscribed to any threads. My setting is "Do Not Subscribe."

What's going on? Has anything changed that would cause me to suddenly start receiving thread update notices? There were probably about 20 of them. This never happened before today (27 July)

Nothing has changed on this end recently.
The email title sounds odd.
You can PM me a complete message (including headers) if you like.

same happened to me. I got a list of about 25 that I had looked at, but not subscribed to.

Same here, only a couple, but including the tire/wives thread - all 187kb of it

Same here. Then, when I went to check it out, I was subscribed to those threads in my profile.

Same with Seanr's, we received 11 e-mail notifications all at once and we usually don't get them.

Actually I got them as well, I think they were threads I'd suscribed to, but it had been a long time since an update. I can get you some more info (if I remember!) when I get home tonight.

Same here, last weekend, then this morning. (both email reminders of PMs recieved and notifications of subscribed threads...and I NEVER subscribe to threads or want emails for PMs)

LOL glad it wasn't the head lettuce we'd have been cloning that stuff.

I went to User CP>user options and made sure those functions were toggled off...they were

That virus thing? MyDoom? sorry, that will not have anything to do with the machine we run on.

As I asked for a copy of the message AND headers in the original response, and have yet to see a single one... other than "me too", I am closing this thread. We get the point that a few folks got email notices of a reply.

If it continues, start a single new thread, and PM or post the info that is needed to work it out.
