WTB upgraded front steering set up

dude,
get a ZJ tie rod at pnp for 18$ or go to autozone or kragen adn buy the long side, short side, and sleeve for like 100$. go to goferit inserts and order an insert for 17$.
youll be into it for about 40$ if you get a junkyard zj tie rod, or 120$ if you get a brand new ZJ tie rod.

youll be OTK on the driver side, cheap, and easily find replacement and trial spare tie rods at all times.

ive ran pnp zj tie rods for a long time until i got a free currie steering setup.
carry some spares and call it good.

zj tie rods are pretty darn good upgrade compared to the stock stuff.

If you go with a NEW stock length tie rod, might as well go with something better than a ZJ tie rod, such as the ironman4x4fab tie rod, can get it with TRE's for about 100$.
Seriousoffroad has a steering kit that is just like the JCR setup, but cheaper.
But, as blondejon saidcheapest/easiest way to go OTK is drill and use the inserts.

I bought it once. Was all stocked at a cheap priced 1ton steering set up. I never could find replacement joints (except through them). You need to put poly spacers on the joints to keep the tierod from "rolling" as you turn. When the tierod rolls it creats a dead spot in the steering. You turn right, tie rod rolls, you keep turning and then your wheels move.

Also, Ive bent a bunch of stock drag links when I lifted up to 5.5-6inchs. Be out crawling with one wheel up on a ledge and all of a sudden I can only steer left. get out, drag link is bent like a pretzel. Went through two sets of stock draglinks in one day.

The stuff from Serious Offroad aka Frank Z is simple, straight forward, tough, and reasonably priced. Frank will take care of you.

i wouldn't touch rusts steering either.

sweet thanks guys so the currie set up is good?and i did the pnp steering thats whats on it right now but it just keeps braking so i wanna do a more heavy duty and more reliable one lol

ive ran the currie for like 2 years. i havent had issues yet, but when i do, ill probably do 1.5" .250 wall DOM and hiems OTK and relocate the trackbar higher up.

The downfall to the currie setup is that is has a fixed TRE @ the knuckle. Pretty beefy, some have success and some don't. Other than a WJ/teraflex setup, the crossover steering usually has a "dead spot" which requires a spacer/shim in the joining TRE link.
