I am looking for a pass side knuckle off a 77~79 ford F150 supercab 4x4 wtih D44... I have a good pair of F250 flat tops that are in great shape for poss trade. I just want to keep the 1/2 ton brake set up.... I know this is the NAXJA board, but you never know who will have one of these....Thanks....

Scott.

I have a set of 79 knuckles, but you know the f250 knuckles will NOT bolt on to an f150 axle (as a trade), just an fyi.

Don't post unless you know. The F-250 knuckles will fit a F-150 housing and the spindles are even the same. The F-150 brakes will not go on without a lot of grinding to the knuckles though.

Narrow you search a little if your looking for the F-150 flattops. 76-77 supercabs had flattops. 78-79 had the coil sprung fronts and didn't have flattop knuckles.

All I have found so far is that the supercabs had flat tops on the left only. I am taking my F150 knuckle to the machine shop on tues to see if they will mill and drill it for me. So now I will have a good set of F250 flat tops for sale...

The only set I found were on a '76 daily driver and both sides were flat. You've been lucky, I found none in my searches.

Please, Please, don't mill your factory knuckle. Look at the F-250 and you will see some casting to support the studs. Also if your planning on buying arms they won't fit because of the width. Either use your F250 stuff and run 8-lug wheels or use the chevy parts with you ford hub and rotor.

Mabye you should do some research before you accuse someone...Don't post unless you know.

Ford knuckles, this shows a 1/2 ton knuckle verse a 3/4 ton knuckle. The red arrow shows the notch in the 1/2 ton which clears the caliper. The 3/4 ton does not have this, thus you can not swap Ford 3/4 ton knuckles on a 1/2 ton axle. If you run the 3/4 ton knuckles you must run the 3/4 ton brakes, rotor and hub. (Unless you do some custom work, NOT RECOMMENDED!) the knuckle area on the 3/4 knuckle is not meant to be ground down to that thiness. Now if you want to risk something like that, thats fine but I wouldnt go telling people that they 'fit' with a little 'grinding'. Note Ford Supercab knuckle is the same as the F150 but with a flat area on top. That would be your best option for a swap. Or like you stated, the FSJ/Chevy option is another good choice :D

Cheers

You need to read that three sentence post again dork. I said a LOT of grinding. Also you said they "will NOT bolt on to an f150 axle" which they will. :D
