So I got my TNT trac bar the other day and I'm thinking about getting thier 1 Ton OTK steering. I will be ordering the steering in the next couple weeks and was making some calls about installing it and the best price I've got is 250. You have to drill and ream the pitman arms and knuckle. I would rather do it myself but I don't have the reamer and the price of them makes me think it would be worth paying to have it done. Long story short if someone with the reamer and has a free weekend I would love to have some help and keep it out of the shop. My weekends are full untill the third weekend in Nov and I have to have it done by the second weekend in Dec. I like to think of it as a mini meet and greet.

Hey Man, I have the Snap-on reamer (well, Hale is borrowing it at the moment, but will be done soon I believe) and a full shop with about any tool that would be needed, and what I don't have my friends close by have:D. Might I add that the JCR 1 ton is a sweet set up, that is what I am running, but mine is not OTK. If you wanted to come up to God's country for a mini wrench fest/ meet and greet, I would be willing to host it at my new house/shop. I know a few guys from the Des Moines area and a few of the North Missouri clan would probably make it and who knows who else might show up. I'm just throwing it out there for ya, I am located in Unionville, Mo 63565. If your swet to Blake (KSXJ) he might even come up and let you use his trailer to haul your rig up here.

If gas keeps dropping like it has I think I may see what we can work out. I don't do trailors so I would be driving my XJ up there and home. Might as well work out the bugs going down the highway. The one question I have about your set up is, I found a thread and I don't remember if it was here or pirate about how that set up has some flop and dead spots too it.
Also if you could see the trac bar I got from TNT Customs well... It's the Beef. Comes raw so I'm going to powdercoat it. I'll keep you posted on detail and a preemptive thanks.

I am running the TNT TB and bracket as well, and yes it is beefier than a Ron Jeremy porn. I have not had the dreaded dead spot problems with my JCR set up. Mine came with the poly spacer for one of the ends and it has performed great for me. I started with that set up at the 6" lift and now I am closer to 8" of lift and it still is performing great. Give it a thought and get back with me if you want to make the trip.

This is sounding liike a possible plan but my worry is that it ends up taking forever for some reason. (Six hours to swap a rusted out shackle.) I don't want to clutter up your shop and would pretty much have to be home that day. The website says instalation should take about 4 hours. Also adding to the other concerns is I'm not the fastest wrencher out there and honestly not the best one either. Let me know what you think.

Installing the TB and bracket should take less then an hour and installing the steering should be done in far less then 4 hours (I would hope). With it being the OTK set up it might take a bit longer then the UTK set up, but I have put a few of the UTK set ups on rigs (mine being one of them) and it did not take close to 4 hours. As far as cluttering up my shop, that is no problem or concern of mine. It is a detached shop and is just used for wrenching, so it is made just for this stuff! :D I am an experienced wrencher and so are a few of the local guys I wheel with. I am set up with the proper tools and what I dont have I can get in a hurry from a local wrencher. I should have everything to do the swaps no problem.

I spoke with Collin and he and Dustin will probably be there as well. Dustin is a certified mechanic as well, for what that is worth to ya.

here in the next week or so i'll decide or sure if i can make the drive. it also kinda depends if funds fall in line or me and i can get the parts waiting for the install by the time my job is done for the season

sounds good, if it works for ya just give me the date and we will go from there.

I don't think I will be able to make it. I had some financial issues after trading in my KJ:twak: (bad parakeet) and haven't even ordered the steering yet. and to top it all off TNT doesn't sell their otk steering setup anymore. i was going to order the jcr set up but after reading the whole jcr rolling thread i'm leary about it. I hate tough desisions. And due to the Chrysler Financial debacle, I'm not going to be able to powder coat the trac bar or steering. The upside is I have had time to get my TJ flares prepped so I can mount them before Wheeling for Toys at Kansas Rocks on the 13th of Dec. When are we doing another M&G?

I understand man, no problem here. Actually with the move I have not got everything set up 100% the way I want it in my new shop, so no big deal. If it works out for another time let me know.

So I called TNT the other day and they had one 1 ton OTK setup's left. So I ordered it and am hoping it will get here this week. It sucked that I couldn't come up. I really look forward to meeting fellow XJer's. Gas is going down so I may actually get to wheel in the next few months. I'll get pics of it once I get it installed. and once again thanks for the offer.

on the reamer issue...
i have one that i would send your way and let you borrow if need be.
i live just outside of jefferson city,mo, but would prob be cheaper just to ups it to you.
pay shipping both ways and its yours for the using.

Thank you for the offer but I've decicded that to take it too a semi local offroad shop and have them do it. I've signed up to be a trail guide for wheeling for toys and have to have it ready to go by the 6th for the pre run. I would rather do it and save me the money but looking at the calender I wouldn't have time to do it. Besides I have some other things going that I need to finish before then so it opens a weekend up. I just can't wait to get out on the trail.
