Exactly. I am used to using my dad's lincoln but he is in MPLS and I am in Indy and he doesn't want to leave it with me for a while. He said this one would do most of the body work/subfram/roll cage stuff but that I would have to practis with it and get used to the less power and lesser grade components but 250 to 350 savings adds up to lots of practice and lots of material.

I started wire-feed welding on a unit exactly like that. You could almost weld anything you'd concievably weld on an XJ with it. Including heavier stuff if you have patience and technique. While its absolutely not comparison to my Lincoln SP175+, its still handy to have around and running on 115/120vac and not needing gas has its own set of bonuses!

I say get it.

Where did you find this?

Yeah, don't believe that. 24ga is not easy to weld with flux core, just too hot. On the 16-18ga exhaust tubing I typically weld, going from the CH 80amp to the gas sheilded Lincoln with a .023 wire made a WORLD of difference! On the otherhand, when I first started welding I was welding 16ga with a stick...which makes even flux cored look easy.

The Ch units have a very poor duty cycle...... I have a 130 amp 110 buzz box by clarke...nice lil unit gas or flux core...can be bought new for around 250 online
