fit on my jeep with a 2 inch lift or should i get like 235's cuz i want somthing wider but also bigger then stock.

30" MTR's fit perfect on my 93 with a 2.5 lift. The only issue you may run into is the front tires rubbing the LCA's in tight turns with stock backspaced rims. I used 1" spacers front and back to cure the rubbing and widen the stance a bit.

Every XJ is a little different. Some will work with 30's stock. Some need a suspension boost.

If you need some, I need to sell my 30's

I ran my 30x9.5 Revos on a stock '92 for 6-8 months while collecting lift parts. Just finished the 2" lift last night. I think it is a perfect match of lift to tire size. I rubbed up front without the lift. It's much better now, but still rubs a bit at full turn. The wheels are stock 15x7 aluminum 10 spokes. A little less backspacing would probably help.

Anybody know what the backspacing on 15x8 Gamblers is? They were the 5 hole aluminum rims available on YJs awhile back.

I'm running 30's right now with a sagged rear suspension and 1.5" shackles with 3" spacers up front. I have no problems. There's some rubbing and such when I turn but it doesn't rub over bumps for me and the backs got enough space that I have't noticed any contact except while flexing off-road.

this shows the 30"s i have on mine.... everything looks fine, but it rubs the flares when i turn sharply, and going over big bumps or dips all four corners will rub the inside of the flares...... but its not stock rims so backspacing and width might be alittle different

Yeah, going to rims with less back spacing (more outward offset) helps eliminate rubbing on the lower control arms, but the side effect is that they make the tires swing closer to the flares when turning. Take your pick -- stock rims and rub the LCAs, or less back spacing and rub the flares.

I'd rather stay with stock rims. I can live with not turning the wheel quite to full lock, but having the tires hit the flares on every turn is worse than a nuisance.

I also run 30x9.50s on a stock suspension. But I have a 5-speed, and I do feel the effects on acceleration. It also throws the speedo off by about 6%, meaning you're going faster than what the speedo says. However, since many factory speedos are off by a couple of percent the other way, the net is probably only 3% or 4% so as long as you don't get crazy with your road speeds it shouldn't get you in any trouble.

Good point on the speedo. I did change mine. Took all of 5 minutes, but the gear cost $25 from the dealer. If you have the automatic, NOT changing the speedo gear will affect your shift points a little. Some find it annoying.

Fit depends alot on actual tire size...A 30x9.50 can be anywhere from 28"-30.5" tall? Check the manufacturers specs to get the actual sizes.

USUALLY.....
Cheaper tires = shorter tires

I've got 30's on my stock '88, I have no problems at all. I'm looking to squeez on some 31's since I'm too poor to get a lift.

This pic is from last year, fairly new tires

this was taken 5.7.05 - the tires are a year old in this pic, bout time for me to get new ones I think(partially cuz these things suck if it starts getting muddy, works great in snow thats about it)

keeping your sway bars on will let you do that. trim a little and you should be fine as long as you stay connected
