WJ blower motor issues

Blower motor starting to go out after it has been running awhile - 45+ minutes.

Did notice this first after an episode yesterday where it was idling the temp gauge pegged all the way to the right - top end degree marking. Shut it off, waited 3 minutes, turned it on and it started walking back down towards 210. Waited 3 hours, drove it about 10 miles round trip and the temp gauge never reached 200*. Blower worked fine during that trip. Drove it about 40 miles with the A/C on this morning and the A/C blew strong and the temp gauge stayed around 190*. About 4 hours later my wife was in it and the blower just abruptly stopped. No issues with the temp gauge. Few minutes later it started working again, but seemed very anemic in 1 & 2 - moreso that normal. Cycle 3 & 4 acted as strong as they ever are. The air is coming out in all 4 cycles at the same pressure in all 4 dash vents so there is no clog in the plumbing that might be stopping air. Air still blows cold.

Fuse is still solid, doesn't look like it is about to go, no scorching or anything. Pulled the motor and all the connections are good, no cuts in the wires. I read that the electrical connector ont he WJ is prone to melting if it over heats. When I run the cycles with the motor out it runs them all 1-4 with no issues.

Thoughts?

Yep. I had read that before I started poking around. I found that article during a Google search.

Thanks for digging it up though. Appreciate it!

Turns out it was a 2 part issue - both came to a head at the same time. The blower motor resistor was crapping out as was the electric fan motor. It wasn't turning the fans fast enough to get the hot air out, therefore causing the temp spikes at low temps.

Guess I should have put the LeBaron vents on the WJ instead of the XJ!!
