The cigarette lighter on my 88 isn't working, definitely not the fuse as radio etc. are fully functional.
Pulled the dash off and saw some strange stuff going on with the wiring. Pictures included below.
Put my test light in the butt connector on the vehicle end of the purple wire w/red stripe. Showed it had power, cool. Snipped the green wire (which goes under the steering column over to somewhere behind the interior panel left of brake pedal), not sure why that was there but it wasn't working either. Reattached to the wire on the cigarette lighter (second picture, they're attached w/ red butt connector now). Test light shows cigarette lighter socket has power, but accessories still not working?
I have a brand new FM/Bluetooth adapter thing I'm trying to use for the first time, I suppose it could be the problem, but I highly doubt it. The original push-in cigarette lighter isn't working either, though it's very old. The rewire that was already in there makes me suspect there's an issue, but what? Why wouldn't it be working if the test light shows it has power?
Will also note if it helps - the test light sparked and it dimmed the radio when I put it in the cigarette lighter socket. I'm very new to wiring so hopefully it's some obvious thing.
