Windshield Replacement

After my XJ rolled I took it to Safelite Glass in Everett. I think it was $225 installed. Its amazing how clear new glass is! I'm getting a quote for my 2500HD Chevy soon as its glass is pitted pretty bad.

There is a tire shop at 6614 se 82nd on the right, heading towards Portland from town center area. I went in looking for used tires and the lady noticed my window, They quoted me around $136.00. Didnt look too far into glass type, but it was cheaper than most.

I replaced mine twice using my insurance co. 100.00 deductable is cheep and it didn`t count against me becouse it was the windshield .

That's what they may have told you but it's not true. They may not have increased your rates, but if you try to change companies next 3 years. The new company will take that info into account and charge accordingly.

Insurance companies call it a clue report and everything gets reported to it. Even a $35.00 rock chip!

I know all this first hand because it happened to me. My buddy owns a high end insurance agency and told me all about it. I was going to change from Geico to someone else because they pissed me off. All the other agents I called was way more then them. I asked him what was up and that's when he told me about this clue report crap, that I think should be illegal! He ran mine and it showed when I had a windshield rock chip repaired for $35.00 and a windshield replace for over $500.00 after I paid my deductible. It comes down to the glass shops screw the crap out of insurance companies and there sick of it.

I think I paid like 130 or 160 (been a while - cant remember - may have even been less)
at MS Glass.... and they came out and did it at my work.
Got a good price (i remember that much) as I called around to a bunch of places and made everyone price match until I got the bottom dollar price...
MS Glass uses good quality replacement glass, and guarantees their installs.

DO NOT Pay more that 200 installed, if you cant find a place to do it better than that, dad and I have an account with that auto glass dude here in Salem. I can hook you up and it may be cheaper. this happens all the time around my place.

the green 98 I did last month I think was 165 installed.

Bronze.

Bunch of good info! Thanks guys and bronze I'll keep this in mind! I'm gonna be calling around!

I had Safelite replace the windshield on my old XJ and MS Glass replace the vent windows on my current one, both places had great customer service, did the work fast, and for a price I felt was reasonable. I'd use either one again in the future.

I had the windshield done just over 2 years ago and I believe I paid about $150 or maybe less... When I was calling around getting quotes most places were pretty close in price so I assume that's still the case... I had an Acura windshield replaced about 10 years ago and I think it cost around $300, luckily XJ windshields are cheap to replace for whatever reason.
