Well guys, I bought a used set of MTRs(285/75 16s) in anticipation of a road trip to the west coast to play in the rocks. Unfortunately, that trip has been put on hold indefinately and I'm wondering if I screwed up. I've got these and a set of 32 BFG ATs, obviously the MTRs will do better at Tellico, but would I have been noticeably better off with a BFG MT KM?? Or should I just go ahead and leave 'em on till I can spring for TSLs and beadlocks:angel: Thanks

Ary

p.s. the only wheelin experience I've had so far with them was at Uwharrie in some nasty muck that was sticky clay(had been raining for at least a week).

From my experience last weekend MT/R's suck in sticky mud unless yuou can really spin them fast to clear them out. I had better luck with my BFG MT's than the MT/R guys did.

I think everything sucks in the mud...You just have to Nail It and hope you don't kill things. It really helps if more than one or two tires are clawing for traction (no matter what kind) and successful muddy mountain wheeling involves 1/3 fresh parts/preparation, 1/3 luck IMHO

Those MTR 16s = 33x11 approx. They ought to do fine at Tellico, and be reasonable to live with mounted/balanced in between trail-rides.

They're balanced using BBs, so they shouldn't come unbalanced. I really need to work on getting a spare though. I've got 5 32 ATs that would DO, but no rims for 'em. Anyone got a spare 16" rim layin around??

Your MTRs shouldn't suck anywhere. I don't run them, but I've run with a lot of guys who do and they seem to work well in everything. They aren't like boggers in the muddy stuff, but I think you'll be happy with them.
