Will I need to adjust the 4x4 lever after a t case drop?

Someone mentioned to me today that I may need to adjust, or "extend" the handle that engages four wheel drive on my '96 XJ. I will be installing a 1" transfer case drop tomorrow.

I haven't heard of this before (and I read these borads a lot), but I figure it is better to ask now than to not know, but need to later.

Not sure, but after doing my SYE and adding a bit more rear lift, my x-fer case kept popping out of 4lo. I got rid of the 1" drop and it seems to be better now. I will find out for sure after wheelin' Calico tomorrow and friday. Hopefully it won't give me any trouble.

I had problems with mine. There is a plate on the side of the AW4 where the linkage pivots and this was at a crazy angle. The easiest solution I found was to roll back the carpet on the driver's side and drill 4 new holes a bit lower on the transmission tunnel and remount the bracket that holds the linkage to the body.

I temporarily put a 1" drop in my '87 and never tried the tcase shifter, but I did have difficulty with 3rd and 5th on the manual tranny. The drop was enough that I couldn't seem to get the shifter to go all the way into gear - it never popped out of gear, but also never felt like it was all the way in gear.
