Which roof rack?

I recently added a 93 XJ to my jeep arsenal and am looking to buy a roof rack for it. I need it to be strong enough to handle a 33" tire. And it doesn't need to have the hi-lift or shovel or light mounts. I'll figure that out. I've looked at a bunch but was wondering what ya'll suggest. Price is sorta an issue as always but if it means getting a better quality rack, then I can bend a bit.

Surco is the least amount $$ wise, pretty strong and can mount either on the stock roof rack rails or they do have a gutter mount kit. I have the 50" one on my 98 and have carried alot of stuff up there like 2-3 8ft fiberglass ladders, casess of network cable, etc and it has held up nicely. If I had it do to over again I would have gotten a longer one though, I can fill it up pretty fast.
Theres a guy on Ebay that make one out of fencing materials but thats gotta be one heavy SOB. If you plan on more stuff besides the tire I would tend to lean towards the gutter mounts though. I think Farmermatt is selling a really nice one but the shipping might be a tad high for it, it's in the 'forsale' forum...

Summit racing seems to have the best prices on them but summit lacks any pictures. I'd just do a web search on Surco roof racks then look for the best prices.

I'm running the Yakima Load Warrior with the A1 gutter mounts. Pretty expensive, but I can stand on it and not bend it (as long as I stay on the rails), and that's with a spare and recovery equipment on at the same time. Also very light.

Check out Proto Fabs. I got theirs last summer, and have been very pleased. I have a spare 35" on top as well as a high lift, and a place to mount my spare axle shafts. It also has a built in light bar for four lights.

Fabbed my own out of electrical conduit (galvanized tubing). Cheap, easy, strong and clean looking. Some guys have laughed at the idea, but I have beat the hell out of it with no adverse effects. Never dented, chipped, bent or cracked after 4 years and thousands of miles.

I currently have a Wilderness Rack and it's a nice rack but it’s pretty heavy. I saw the new aluminum rack that Rusty’s is selling in Moab and it looks awsome. I’m going to order one when I get a little more spending money. It’s extremely strong and light weight with nice mounting brackets.
