Where could I connect this led strip to a 12v power source.

on with ignition? on with the doors open? always on? Switched on?

might be helpful to know what year your junk is too.

i did something similar to mine but i took out the bulb holder which unplugged only a few inches up and cut the wires so i could still remove that lower trim piece just in case it was real simple and worked real nice

Assume it's your '93? On my '93 I added courtesy (if that's what they are called) lights. The wiring was already installed. Feel around up under the lower dash panel and you should find a plug on both driver and passenger side. These come on with the other interior lights when the doors open. I cut off the existing plugs and crimped on leads from the new lamp sockets.

If you want some other switching arrangement, you might be able to use these existing wire in some way, but in any event you can get current (ignition on or always on) by tapping into the driver side fuse panel.

in that case the easiest circuit to grab switched 12V from in the dash is the cigarette lighter.

If you want them able to turn on whenever then grab it from the radios 12V constant memory circuit.

Spent a little time looking at it tonight. Im taking the power from the radios constant supply. From there I'll connect a wire that will run to the 2 positive leads of the 2 stands. And somewhere on the wire I'll be putting a switch that will mount somewhere to the left of the ash tray.
