I have a 99 cherokee with 31" tires on the stock wheels. Is anyone running a spacer by chance with this setup? I am trying to get the rear tires out a little bit but dont want to go too far out and look like one of the homeys in a low rider  . If anyone has wheel spacers with stock wheels, what size looked the best???? Any pics??? I am trying to decide between 1" to 1.5", thoughts????

Only go 1" in the rear, the wheel studs are too short for anything longer. I have 1" on all 4 and like it. Looks good plus with my 5" lift it adds stability. I had 1.5" on the front with 32x11.50 and that looked great but, the tire was way to big that way!

Thanks for the info!

Little bit different application, but here ya go. 2" spacer on the rear with stock XJ wheels. I have an 8.8, so the studs are a little longer.

Looks good and not too far out. Do you just have the spacers on the rear????

Poison spyder customs makes some good spacers, I'm running stock wheels with 1.5" spacers. 3" lift, and the 31x10.5's rubbed on the control arms at full lock so I spaced them, working great for a year so far. The wheelstud length shouldn't really be an issue since the nuts thread in the drilled out area of the spacer.

I looked on their website and couldn't find them????

I have 1 1/2" front and 2" rear. This gives me an effective 3.75" BS, the extra width on the rear makes up for the slightly narrower 8.8.

They are Trail Gear (IIRC) spacers I got from a vendor on Pirate. Can't remember who off the top of my head, search for "wheel spacers" in the vendor deals forum.

Personally if you wheel or even if you don't I would stay away from wheel spacers. Its a good way to loose a wheel. Have you thought of just putting some aftermarket rims with the correct backspacing?

I wondered how long it would be until the wheel spacer police showed up. Run a search; wheel spacers, when installed and maintained properly, do no more harm than different backspaced wheels. There is a huge thread on this. It comes down to personal preference.

:soapbox: hasta

No offense intended but I am a firm believer that this is simply not true. I ran wheel spacers on my 04 Cobra at the track making over 500 RWHP and never had a problem with them. Yes, thought of aftermarket rims but I have a budget I am trying to stay within.....I know wheelspacers are roughly $50 a set for two......

I've been running some cheap e-bay 1" spacers (paid $110 shipped for 4)for a year now and some heavy wheelin', absolutely no issues. You just have to install them correctly and re-check torque every so often.

I have towed on them, run the highway to and from trails at 65mph, not even a hint of trouble.

I guess more people are running them than I thought, and with no major problems it sounds. I gotta get them on my Jeep, right now it looks like it's been on a diet, way too skinny in the rear! Thanks for the input!

Here is my procedure/advice on spacers.

Make sure the axle studs do not stick up past the WMS of the spacers. If they do grind them down and chase the threads with a 1/2"x20TPI die.

Torque the spacers to the factory(or spacer manufacturer)specs

Torque the wheels to spec.

Drive the Jeep around for about 20 miles at lower speeds making some lefts and rights through a nieghborhood.

Pull the wheels back off and retorque the spacers, then re-install/re-torque the wheels.

Drive around about 50 miles and then re-torque the wheels.

Re-check/re-torque everything after a couple of months.

I use Never-Sieze on the axle studs, spacer mounting surface and spacer studs to insure a correct torque setting and to keep the spacers from sticking to the axle WMS.
