Showing her Georgia Power bills in the one warm room
of her home, Raymeica Kelly explains how her mother, sister
and herself were turned away from the Energy Assistance
Program on Wednesday morning after standing in line for four
hours. All three complained that the system the Macon-Bibb
County Economic Opportunity Council uses to give out the
assistance needs improving.

My wife just finished a sociology class where one of the "lessons" focused on how horrible Rentacenter is because they pray on the poor. Seems the poor can't figure out that they end up paying $1000.00 in $25.00 a week payments for a $300.00 TV. I work as hard as any man and yet.. I don't have a tv.. I can't afford one, so I don't freaking BUY one! How much longer will middle America be fooled into thinking the "super-rich" are the ones ripping us off?!

*Kicks the soap-box to the next PO'd taxpayer* :gonnablow

why work had and put forth effort when you can make minimum wage and live off everyone else....
one of the guys i work with refuses to take a promotion so he can stay on food stamps and assisted living....
he says on average, for him, his girlfriend, and 2 kids, he pays $120/mo for rent, maybe $100/mo in groceries, and his utilities are paid for by Gov. so almost all of his money is spendable. and him and his girl dont get married or they will lose benefits.......
its a bullshit world we have created.

survival of the fittest. pick up the pace or pound sand. no i dont feel bad for you. no i dont feel obligated to you. race has nothing to do with it. we have a color president. stop making excuses and get your ass in gear and STFU....

sorry. this stuff really chaps my ass

What color Lincoln Navigator ya'll figure is parked in the driveway? :D
I was figuring it was an Escalade with 30" blindingly chromed rimz.

No kidding, I see an awful lot of showy vehicles in really crappy neighborhoods...

Crap like this makes my blood boil, pay for your own damn bills. Maybe looking at those bills for long enough will make her blood boil so she doesn't need heat. I keep my thermostat on 50, a heavy comforter makes it quite nice if I just turn it up to 55 to 60 or so in my bedroom at night... I would leave it lower in other areas of the apartment but I don't feel like risking a frozen pipe.

I have a similar story:

When I was about 12 or 13, my church decided to help out a few inner city families buy Christmas presents for their kids. So as a family, we went out and bought about 200 dollars worth of presents for 4 kids.
We drive down to Indianapolis to give them to the family in need. We open the door, and inside there was a flat screen wall mounted 40 some inch TV (remember this was 7-8 years ago, flat screens were newish) A fridge with ice and water in the door. Two leather couches and a sound system in their living room. Plus the rest of the house didnt look that bad either.

I dont think i was ever more PO'd as a kid then when i delivered presents to kids who had nicer stuff than i did!

I'm not saying this is the situation but you never know if the stuff in the pictures are gifts. I grew up dirt poor but on occasion we had some nice stuff that was given to us, didn't mean we could have bought it.

Why come no tattoo?

Wow, I wish someone was nice enough to give me a big screen TV and Xbox. Then I could sell them on craigslist so I could pay my rent...

Gifts? you're kidding right? If I couldn't afford to pay my bills I would sell the gifts, not bitch because the government didn't pay my bills, gifts.
The attitude that allows those "people" to live as they do is, well, they are no less than rodents.
I'm sorry guys for getting my hackles up. I believe what I believe.

Same old, same old--local paper here used to run pictures and stories on the front page around Christmas of all the poor and sick needing help. One year they they had a picture of this poor guy that was suffering all kinds of respiratory ailments so he couldn't work--of course the full ashtray and pack of cigs on the table in the photo didn't help his cause.

The paper caught so much flack after that one they stopped using pictures with those articles.
