What's this Jeep worth?

I find it interesting the extent to which aftermarket upgrades drop in price once installed on a Jeep. What would you say the number is? 80% drop? 70%? Even new ones like this guy has.

Anyway, what would you say the actual market price of that Jeep is? What do you think someone will actually pay for it?

And no, it's not mine.

Uh. If it's super nice and he finds a buyer that really loves it. I say he will get half of what he is asking.
It's a cheap RC lift, likely stock l/s in the rear and 456 gears. Woo hoo.
Doesn't matter how nice it is, it's no longer a nice unmolested jeep.
I call 6k
And bs on the 100mph with 456 and 33's. That thing should be winding out hard at 80

So what's a stocker in that shape worth? 3.5-4k? Then another 2k for aftermarket parts?

Whoeeee! Modding and selling is like a kick in the junk. I could see up to $8k for it.

If he had more axle stuff maybe 8k.
But there have been several tj with same parts types sell under the 8k mark in recent months. It's a xj with bottom level parts, albeit a lot of them.

One of those situations where to the right buyer, it might be worth the money...but he'll be sitting on it a long damn time for that buyer.

My brother sold his '98 about a year ago, pretty similar build...had a ton of aftermarket stuff, but had a lot more equipped axles than this guy; had alloys in the front with 4.56's and an ARB, rear was an 8.8 with alloys with 4.56's and a spool. Long story short, he sold it for $5,700 and it was immaculate with 120K miles on it.

My '01 has a TON of crap done to it with a lot of pricey parts, but it's only worth as much as someone will pay me for it. Main reason why I haven't sold it yet....I will lose my effffn ass on it.

Yup. Back in the day I found mine all modded up on eBay. Looking back, it probably wasn't worth what I paid for it, but it was packed full of goodies, so I couldn't resist.

If I were to buy another XJ, I'd probably do it again - let someone else take the ding for modding it up and then pick it up cheap.

I'd think he'll get $7-8k for it, its clean and pretty. Mine was better built, clean, pretty, and that's about what I got for it. He'll have to be patient though, and $12.5 is a pipe dream.

$12,500...Pipe Dreams....>>>>>>

Yeah there is no way he's going to get $12.5k for it, though as the saying goes..."there is a sucker born every minute!"

Return on aftermarket parts is...well not a whole lot.

The thing for me is that I don't want a prebuilt Jeep. Main reason: I have NO idea who did it and how well it was REALLY done.

And if it was done by a shop (even a reputable one)...no, your not going to get that arseload of money you paid in labor back, as much as some people on CL seem to think they should.

Hell I've been looking for another rig after I get rid of the XJ thats been sitting since I don't drive it.

Trying to find an unmolested XJ is harder than finding a stock one. I've been looking more into WJ's these days since I can get a newer one with far more creature comforts for the same (or even less) amount of $.

Durango man. That's what I'm lookin at. You can find 2002's with v8 auto creature comforts and tons of room for same price as a 94 xj that has double the miles!! Plus then you could help me sort out how all the front end shit would stuff under it :D

Get a 2000 or older. The interiors aren't as nice but they still used a steering box instead of rack and pinion. Easier to do a solid axle swap that way.

I should've stuck with my Durango, it wasn't really any bigger externally than the JK, but it had a ton of room on the inside. It was like Mary Poppin's purse, it never ran out of room.

If you get a 2000 specifically you can get the 4.7L and still have the steering box. The 2001-2003 interiors are really nice, but I'm not sure what is involved in putting a steering box back in.

If you don't mind cruddy fuel economy then the 5.9L is the way to go, that bad boy is a gas guzzling torque monster. I loved it, even if I was only averaging 11-12mpg.

*Oh yeah, and that Jeep is worth 6-7K tops. People need to realize they aren't getting crap for their aftermarket parts and XJ's are cheap junk to begin with.

Dutch if I do the durango I want to do the 5.9. If I end up with the 5.2 I'll be alright. Not worried about fuel economy as it's not a dd.
good call on year with a true box. All I've been able to find on any type of build for these things is still ifs or leafs with crap parts tossed at it and sky high.

There is a local with a Durango with pro rock axles and an atlas. Let me find his number for you. He actually is on this bored selling a jeep with an atlas as parts or something.

Trying to remember the old-timer naxja dude, lived in Evergreen, sold his XJ and built a 1st gen Durango nicely as a dd-weekend rig... 35's. I think I'm getting old and my brain doesn't work...
