What's the point in doing this?

BO's paying off his supporters.

However, that aside, why not call it what it was? I am sick and tired of re-wrights of history to suit political agendas.

State the facts, let people decide.

Genocide by colonial/ruling powers against others has been going on since the dawn of mankind, and has intensified, not abated.

Race, religion, politics, man, we really don't even need a reason to hate and kill each other.

Americans killing Native Americans, Spaniards killing Native Americans, Australians killing Aboriginals, Turks killing Kurds, Iraqs killing Kurds, Arabs killing Jews, Arabs killing Persians, Japanese killing Chinese, Japanese killing Koreans, Nazis killing Jews, Jews killing Arabs, Catholics killing Arabs, Jews, Native Americans, Protestants, and on, and on, and on.

Damn good thing we are civilized!

Can't we all just get along?

The point is Congress apparently doesn't have enough to do so they are passing non-binding resolutions. President Obama showing statesmanship opposes this measure because Turkey is a US ally and a member of NATO. Being a member of NATO, Turkey allows our military access to be a thorn in the then Soviet and now Russia side. There once was even a Coast Guard installation in Turkey. Although as candidate Obama promised to brand the mass killings genocide the reality of making that statement set in when he assumed the office of President. Similiar to the statement he would close GTMO within the year, once he became president and recieved the full briefing on national security threats he realized his folly making that statement.

-and-

You realize that Ottoman Turks are Muslim, right?

But why does *our* Congress give a flying flip about that?

I don't know. If they want to make a change regarding something that happened along time ago maybe now is the time to recognize & grant the citizenship that was promised to the Filipino Freedom Fighters of WWII.
