A 8.8 with drums and 4.10's says it has 20,000 miles on it. Any ideas? I don't really have any idea.

with drums it may not be the one ya want...

but if the gearing is what your after....what the hell...?

what year is it from...I'll tell ya what we get for one...

I'm told its out of a 2001 sporttrack. I think thats why it has drums. Gotta be better than my current 35!

It's out of a 2002 Sport Trac

According to info. found on the net is should be 31 spline.

Discs would be nice but it's too good to pass up.

You should hold out for discs. For 400 bucks you could def. find an axle that will work. www.car-part.com :)

Just searched: 1999

Not sure of this place is close to where u are?

Hold out for disks...

I paid $50 for a "new" full width 8.8 w/drums, 31 splines, a factory trashlock and 4.10 gears...

Send me a pm...

I can get ya an exploder 8.8 with disks for way less than $300...

Discs are way over-rated, IMO. Maybe not compared to some of the smaller drums that the XJ had, but the 11" drums on my 9" with stock d30 discs in front will stop my heep on 35s on a dime. Lots of fun when I'm being tailgated by some dork yakking on a cell phone...

Sounds like you enjoy sticking your 9" in someone elses face...

Does the Missus know about this?

Too late to hold off.

I bought it, if I don't use it I'm sure I can get rid of it and make a little.
I've got the bigger drums on my 35 now, so I would think it would be about the same. I'll run the 30's I've got till they are bald. 30's and 4.10's would be good. The swap won't happen too awful quick though. I'll have to regear the 30.$$$
Just a lot beefier axle all together. I think I'll be fine with the 8.8 drums. Don't get me wrong, discs would be sweet but for $100 what the hell.

for $100 ??

Aw hell for that, yeah!!!

I had to go back in the thread and try to figure out why I thought you were spending $400...

Then I realized someone else thought it was worth that...

Dude...

Barrio Fabworks is all about upgrading on the cheap!

Now cut all that crappy Ford bracketry off and weld some beefy perches on there and you'll be set...

later on, you can pull the disk brakes off an Exploder at the pick and pull and be done with it!

Let's say, he kinda owed me a couple of favors....

After I got the thing to the shop I looked it over. The outer edge of the drums have a little rust on them, but the shoes look brand new. When I turned the yoke both axels turned the same way, but I am going to pull the cover to verify it has the traclock. If Mike decides not to use it I have a 92 for it to go into. And my rear sway bar collection has grown to 5, this one is the odd ball. JIM.
