OK, time to get off my arse and build my basturd pack rear leafs.

I have the dakota Leafs cut and ready. I was just looking and I have no idea what size Ubolts I need for a 3"lift. Can I buy at a local parts house or do I need to go to a 4x4 shop?

I already have a replacement braided brake line.

I believe AZ or O'Reilys has center pins and probably leaf spring keepers... anything else while I'm at it?

It's about time. lol
What axle did you have under there. The D35 took one size and the D44 and chryco 8.25 took another, if I remember right.

D35=2.5" axle tube and the D44 and 8.25 have a 2.75" tube

And yes we(O'reilly's) have center pins, in Dorman behind the counter. If the person knows what they are. lol
The u-bolts we usually only stock 2 of the same ones at a time, so plan ahead, and order before you need them..

I think when I did my Dakota bastard pack I used u-bolts that were about 2" or so longer. Just to give you an idea/starting point---I used all but the overload spring on mine and got about 4.5" lift.

Wrong the d44 and c8.25 take different ubolts; I know for a fact.

I was under the impression that the d35 and d44 took the same ubolts?

Yep, 8.25 is a 3" tube, D44 is 2.75"

OH YEAH? Well... well.... a Ford 8.8 is 3.25", so there mister know it all.

Sorry I had to.:shhh:

Like I said "if I remember right" well they do say your mind is the second thing to go but I can not remember the first......wait what was I saying again:jester:

THANKS!!!

Luckily we have mor ethan one O'reillys so I guess I will go clean them both out :)

Should I look for anything else... besides the center pins?

It's only 10 miles away but a PIA to have to stop and go each time I remember something :gonnablow

Just get new centering pins, the u-bolts, and you may want to snatch up some spring clips. Also make sure you are soaking your leaf spring bolts with penetrating oil well in advance. Those things can be a pita, especially if you have one get siezed up and it breaks the welded nut loose inside the frame.

If he's just doing a bastard pack he doesn't need to mess with the spring bolts. Just leave the main leaf on and add the Dakota pack to it. You can also make your own spring clamps if you can't find any.
