What to Wheel?

Need some advice from you guys in the Mid West chapter. I am moving to the Chicago area from So Cal. I have a 2000 XJ that is a Jeepspeed build but still 4x4 with a D30 front ARB locked and trussed and D44 rear with Detroit Electrac locked and trussed. Here are some pics:

I am wondering if I should dump my XJ here in So Cal, since it is more set up for the desert and buy something local in Illinois? It does have low miles, 53K and no rust. Don't know what the market is in Illinois, or the general conditions of XJ's.

Also what are some good areas to wheel at that are within 4 hours from Chicago?

Appeciate the help.

You have NO RUST right? Now think about that, these guys back east would kill for a rust FREE XJ... I see all kinds of post about the rust they have......

Thats my 2 cents for tonite

See that is my delima. Since most of the cost is in it to race the Jeepspeed series, I don't think it makes sense for pure wheeling, but that is what I am trying to figure out. I had it out a couple of weeks ago and it can fly at about 70 mph across the desert.

I would like to get 12 - 13K for it.

If not, I'll bring out to Illinois and change out my shock valving for the slow stuff and put 35's on it.

Other than the bottom mounted axle trusses getting hung up, Your XJ should do fine here. Bring it with you, wheel it at the Cliffs and the Badlands a couple of times, and fine tune from there.
If you're interested, here is a pic thread for some of our rigs.

And welcome from the MWC.

It'll be fine to wheel. There are plenty of dunes out here to ride on. Your not gonna find an XJ around here with that low of an amount of miles or rust free

Bring it, wheel it and make adjustments where you see fit. You shouldn't have any problem wheeling that thing out here.
