So I should be selling my truck soon (knock on wood).
With that money I want to get another OBS PSD (OBS = Old Body Style, i.e. non-Super Duty and PSD = Powerstroke Diesel) like the 95 I had.

I've talked a bit with the guy I sold my white truck to, and he says he'll sell it back to me for $10k (what I sold it to him for).

OR

Skycrawler says he'll give me his 97 F250 for a steal, which would leave me cash to do whatever I want to the truck.

OR

Buy Skycrawler's 97, Stupidru, and a trailer, and use whatever's left if any to build the truck as much as I can.

My old 95 is EXACTLY the truck I want, and would require no work, but would leave me with no extra $$.

Skycrawlers 97 is kind of what I'm looking for, and would need a significant amount of work to get it where I'd like it to be (new paint, possibly new bed, lift, tires, sound, CB, D60 front swap, Warn hubs, Detroit in the rear) but I'd have the $$ to do it.

Stupidru would be a ton of fun, and I'd have a tow rig + toy, but I still ship out fairly soon so I'd only be able to use it for a few months and will be building a 4bt buggy when I come home anyway, and I wouldn't have much if any cash left over to build the truck up.

Sell the dually. Get an XJ daily driver until you ship out. Put the money in savings until your military deployment is done..........

THEN see where your head is at and go buy/build something to enjoy then........ rather than leave a buncha stuff sitting around rotting away for someone else to have to deal with until you return.

I know it's kinda cool to have a handful of pics to show the boys about the things you have at home waiting for ya.......... just carry a pic of a pile of cash and tell 'em what it'll buy ya when you get home.

Don't worry Troy I have enough pics of my girl :gee:

Thought about that one, but by the time I'm home and done with the Army I'll have enough in my "buy cool shit" account (separate account from the "practical responsible life shit" account... direct deposit is split 30/70) that I'll be able to build my dream tow rig:

and still have enough to get a good start on a buggy, which I'll be able to finish with my Army pension.

Then I'll have the truck I get now as a DD, a beastly tow rig, and a toy :D

I knew my recruiter personally so he didn't BS me.
And that's what I plan on doing ;) 20ish years puts me around 40ish when I get out, which gets me the pension AND I ain't too old to go find some other work.

What job is the "best job?"

And I knew him before he was a recruiter... I ain't worried about that.

haha, im an EOD tech, leaving for my second tour in afghan this week. jk about the best job thing, there are tons of great military jobs out there. but seriously, don't commit your self to 20+ when you haven't even laced up your boots yet, thats ignorant.

Cool... one of my buddies is an EOD stationed up at Ft. Drum, his unit deploys to afghan this spring.
I've only got a 4 year contract this go around, it's all I've wanted to do since I was 5... so I think I'll probably stick with it.

you might want to think about the 20 year mark. Life has funny way of throwing a monkey wrench at ya sometimes. Don't know how I know that but I do. just a thought to think about.

Just dont do anything stupid, keep your shit tight. basic and ait is one thing, but when you go PP is when things tend to get screwed up.

......... Yeah, and then you get that "letter" from your girl asking if you remember the awesome night you two had the last time you were home on leave....... and now the pee stick shows positive. You'll be buying a ring, a honeymoon, a house, a mini-van and a shit-ton of baby stuff.

:D

Ahaha this thread is funny... I agree with troys first post. Although I voted. Get a good reliable xj maybe 97-99 and your lady friend can drive the jeep while your gone!

That's what the "practical responsible life shit" account is for :D

Eh... diesel is like crack... once you start, it's almost impossible to quit lol. Notice how all of my options include a diesel truck as the main vehicle?

Really the one major thing stopping me from getting an XJ is the truck bed. I use mine pretty regularly, and giving that up would leave me a bit lost. Yeah, yeah... I know there's always an MJ. But I need something with at least an ext cab if not a crew cab, and to the best of my knowledge they only made single cab MJs.
