Behind not allowing posts to be edited after a certain time period? This is the only forum I have ever seen that does this. It makes it difficult to update the first post with new information relating to troubleshooting etc. It would be nice, if I were working on a problem for a while, to be able to update the first post to say that so far this is what has been tried etc..you're a lot less likely to get the same suggestions posted over and over in a longer thread where people don't have time or the interest to read through it all before posting.

Thanks!

In a large part due to people that would change the context of their posts/threads, usually in a negative manner. Not allowing people to do this has curtailed many issues and works well for us. IIRC, you have 45 min to edit your post. If something changes after that, simply add a new post with the update. It works well for us, even if other web sites do it differently.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry to hear that posters here are/were so difficult. I've never seen a board where it was such a problem that taking away that kind of functionality was necessary.
