My wife is looking to buy a new camera that can go underwater and still take good pictures. I figured what better time to grab a gopro camera. It will do what she wants and do what I want at the same time. What model do you have and how do you like it.

Get a newer version hero2 or hero3 that works with the wireless remote. I got a regular hero2 and that the only thing I wish was different.

In this case I'm pretty sure the 1/4" plate skid should be attached with bathtub caulking.

Do you want to do more video or still photos?

My parents bought me an Olympus waterproof camera, I returned it and got a Hero2. I use it for diving, and it has some great quality if you're in clear water or near the surface around here in NE. (The light definitely gets washed out the deeper you go and you get green wash pretty noticeable with the gopro footage. I have had the camera at 100fsw and it provides good picture as long as there is light)

I you're doing stills, get something other than a gopro. I've seen some good pictures on gopro's website, and granted I haven't really done much still photography with it, but I've yet to see good quality pictures come from my Hero2.

I have the hero3 silver, great video but pictures are widescreen. For me the pics appear as if I'm looking through a bubble of rounded glass, best way I can describe it. Great video but I don't think I will use it as a camera for still frames again, unless to get action stills.

I have the original hero. I like it alot. But it doesn't function well as a point and shoot as theres no veiw finder. So you dont really know whats in the shot. I know they make one for it but im cheap and i also dont want to diminish the battery life.

Also the remote is a good idea. Because its a pain in the ass to get out and access the camera every time you want to start and stop it. Especially when its mounted in a hard to reach location.

If i was to buy one right now I think id get the 3

I have synched the gopro with my iPhone to view what the camera is pointed at with the wifi, crushed the battery life both times Ive done it though.
