What Cam Shaft do I want?

So I'm rapidly approaching a rebuild in my 88 XJ. I have an idea of the rebuild kit that I'm going to use, and I also have an idea of how much I would like to bore my block. What I don't have an idea on is what cam I want. I was asking some friends about pulling some extra horses out of the rebuild and someone suggested a better cam. Sounds like a plan since I have it torn apart anyway. I'm lookin for some low to mid range torque. Any suggestions about what I'm looking for? Rather than a make and model I would greatly appreciate if someone could tell me how I should choose my cam?

Thanks guys

are you building a stroker or just a rebuild and boring the cylinders. there are many many ways of rebuilding a renix(87-90) 4.0. TRUCKS on the spike channel did a renix 4.0 stroker and if you search for stroker, you will get alot more info.

stock cam will works well but if your looking for low end torque(which the stock cam provides), look into a cam with an RV grind. cam swaps work very well on other engines, but the 4.0 is not like other(say chevy 350) engines.

also search for clifford or hesco.

Also you need to decide if it needs to pass emmisions as well.

That Baja Beast is bigger than we use in our Jeepspeed. Find something that is no more than 204 degrees intake duration at .050, and 206 degrees on the exhaust. Anything bigger and it will kill torque. Anything bigger will screw with the EFI also. Keep it small and you will be happy.
