It's running, driving and on Craigslist. That little 4 cyl. tested my patience. First, it was hard to find, then it was hard to install (you should see the rediculous motor mounts on this thing - mounts and brackets had to be completely removed from both the engine and jeep in order to stab the engine/trans together - and that took an afternoon of cussing in itself...), then it was plagued with air pockets in the cooling system, and then a persistent power steering leak.
But it did clean up nice. The useless front receiver is gone. I added a new clutch, gauge cluster (eliminating the idiot light/non-tach cluster), new headliner with sound bar and dual dome lights with map lights, and the Ecco wheels with BFG's and full size spare.
The 4-banger actually does much better than I'd expected. It's certainly no H.O. performer, but moves it around fine. They still put 4:10's in these newer 4-banger rigs, so if you ever find one being parted out, go for the axles!

Now, on to the next project...... Should I replace the engine in the lifted '88 2 door?....... Finish parting out the '89 Laredo?....... Replace the BA10 in the clean little '87?....... Fix the front clip, install the lift, tires/wheels and winch bumper on the '96? :dunno:
Or here's an oddball concept..... maybe wrench a little on this: :looney:
