gonna start putting the D&C cage in my jeep this weekend. i've already got the carpet and seats out. any tips on keeping splatter off everything else. i dont want to buy fire retardent blankets so i was thinking about picking up some cheap towels and wetting them down and covering the dash and such with those. head liner is still in so i was just going to use a piece of cardboard between the tube and roof.

oh and keep the fire extingusher close by :D

damp ,not wet, towels work great thats what i always use when welding near somthing important, if thier wet they will drip water and its no fun getting electrocuted by a welder trust me i know.

I have heard....

that spraying the windows with PAM cooking spray will stop them from being damaged, I wish I had done that. Alas, I did not so I have no 1st hand knowledge.

I was very careful with the welding, but before when griding to get notches nice, I kinda...forgot sparks are hot too. They will really F your windows up.

sounds like i should take extra caution on the windows

I.E. take off the doors or roll the windows down... easy, too good to be true?

also heavy duty aluminum foil works great , espeacialy welding spider gears. two or more layers folded in half etc
