I'm going to cut out my rocker and weld in the ORGS nerfs I've got. Made the mistake of not installing them after changing lift!!
Its not that bad, but the supernerfs just don't fit as well as before.
I'd like to know some dimesions between the outside of the rocker to the body. I'm in no way asking how to design or copy. I'd like to know if the inside wall(unibody) is just vertical or are there bends.
I was just hoping to lessen any surprises!

Thanks agian NAXJA, Rensing

I'm trying to picture this in my mind and I don't see how you're planning on cutting out your rocker and replacing it with super nerfs (I even looked up the ORGS super nerfs ). I think what you would want to do is cut out your rockers and replace them with some square tubing and then add the super nerfs to it (since you got them and also to get more outside protection).....

Why dont you PM Mark Pinkly, he'll know if that'll work. He knows the ORGS rails pretty well and he knows a thing or two about what's under the XJ skin. Just dont ask him about tranny coolers.......

You mean Mark Hinkley, right?

Once the rocker panel sheet metal has been cut away, the vertical sides of the frame rails are basically straight, but I can't guarantee they are perfectly flat for their full length.

I've recently had way too much knowldge gathering of the xj unibody, LOL

Anyhow the inside of the rocker isn't totally flat inside. There are some ledges and bends in there to deal with.

I would not recommend cutting off the rocker and replacing them. It is a very difficult job to do right. You must have exceptional welding skill to put it all back together right or it's not going to be as strong as stock.

We've ahd some messed up rockers come in that want SuperNerfs installed and would not have fit right with normal installation. So we will weld them in place rather than bolt them. Sometimes we only weld the pintch weld part, some times to the frame also. This way it is alot easier to get them up against the rocker better and stay there because of the lack of bolting surfaces.

My current project XJ has them welded in place, but then it has alot of things welded in place. :D
