So one of the reasons I turned around before the Eagle Rock trail was my XJ was overheating. Well I traced down the problem. The reverse lamp switch was shorted out, which blow the ignition fuse. The ignition fuse is indirectly wired to the radiator fan switch that overloaded when the fan came on and blew the fan fuse that over heated the engine causing the AC to stop working. What had been puzzling to me on the way back to Longmont the AC was freezing me out. But then I had no clutch, so I never used reverse. I fixed the clutch problem and with it running in the garage the AC worked great. When I got back from the test drive it wasn't working again. It took 3 weeks and a lot of fuses to figure out that using reverse caused the chair of events.
