The summer primaries are coming up. Will a Voter's Revolt happen?

A real voter's revolt, not just switching same old lame career politicians shifting jobs amongst themselves.

Jeff called for one several months ago (couldn't find the thread) and I agree. Can we make it happen? Will you participate? I plan on not voting for anyone with the word "incumbent" by their name. Will you?

I plan on voting for whoever looks like they'll get the job done. If the incumbent has a good track record then he can stay. If they're part of the problem, they can go and let someone else have a whack at it.

OK That's one Nay.

but after watching the last six years coming from DC, if they are incumbent, then they are part of the problem.

Where do we go to vote for term limits for all of Congress?

There's a bill going for that right now I think... so the answer is Congress.

I'd vote for you :dunno: but I think I might be in the wrong state.

Unfortunately, under the U.S. Constitution, WE can't get a Constitutional Amendment going. I am not holding out hope that any incumbent Senator or member of the House of Representatives will vote for such a bill, no matter what they might say to get elected.

Just vote Militia.

WE can, however, scare the crap out of our federal Senators and members of the House--Virginia, New Jersey, Mass. If we can keep the grinder working, the cockroaches will get the messages.

There are term limits, it is called the ballot box. Unfortunately not enough voters exercise their option to not vote incumbent. Darky brings up a good point about keeoing good people in, term limits throws that baby out with the bath water.

Generally I do NOT favor term limts, but currently just not real happy with the current crop of people in DC. Both sides of the aisle are not being Bi-Partisan enough, not negotiating with each other and it seems they have a big case of my way or the hiway attitude, whatever side of the aisle they are on. My positions are more left than most people here on NAXJA, more right than most of my neighbors and I want to see balance back there in the beltway.

The children in congress need to play nice with each other to accomplish goals good for the country, but they are not. Fresh Crop is needed.

How about this: Push to change your individual state election law. Real simple change. Every position carries the choice "none of the above" If "none of the above" wins, a new election is held, and no one named on the prior ballot(except, of course "none of the above") is allowed to run in the new election.

You guys in Calie would have it easy, with the voter referendum process available there.

Problem with that form of "term limits" is that every dumbass in this country over the age of 18 - illegals included - seem to get a vote. Ask the average person why they voted for Obama - you'll get one of two answers:

"He's going to get us out of Iraq in a year..."

"He said he's going to pay off our mortgages..."

Really? And they let these people cast a vote....

The other problem is pork - as long as Congressmen and women can stuff their constituants (sp?) and districts full of taxpayer money, they'll keep getting the "dumbass vote".

you forgot "he'll walk on water and fix everything"

Good catch ;)

....although he still has ~3 years left - I won't hold my breath....

Jimmy Carter v2.0 - Nobel Prize and all...

Give me someone other than a Democrat or Republican to vote for. Both parties are responsible for the huge mess we're in as nation. If I see a Libertarian or Tea Party affiliated name on the ticket, I'll vote for them.

Let's just not focus on one individual because it is the sum of the total that got the country into this mess. If his predecessor hadn't upset so many voters then President Obama would most likely have not gotten elected.

Nice save with the Pork problem comment.

I like the NOTA option, it should for sure be in the primaries and then go from there. I don't what those clowns doing something just to do something.
Right now our options are democrats, jump off 1000ft cliff to rocks below, republicans, jump off 900ft cliff to rocks below, Obama, jump off 1100ft cliff to rocks below. Everyone is a bad choice.

One of the problems with NOTA would be not allowing the losers to run again. You might get away with prohibiting the secretary of state (the state elections officer, whatevah the title) from printing their names on the ballot, but you can't stop them from running a wright-in campaign. Just a small detail.

I'm not a republican, and not a fan of Bush (never voted for him, but I think he's 100x better than Obama), but right now the problem is the Democrats. They have too much power and are abusing it and are doing very damaging things. My first priority is shutting them down (put out the fire), and 2nd is rebuilding with better politicians. I support the TEA party movement. Reduce the size and scope of the federal government, let the states handle most social issues.

Oxymoron. :dunno:
