Voltage Regulator & Alternator

Does anyone know for certain if the voltage regulator on the 4.0L engine ('92 to be specific) is in the alternator or in a separate part of the engine compartment? If separate, can you point me to its location? Thanks mucho.

To be specific the regulator is in the engine computer, not the alternator.
