VIN locations

How many different areas is the VIN# on the Cherokee. I count at least 4, but didn't know if there were any more.
1. on dash, seen through windshield.
2. driver door information sticker
3. under hood, by left hinge on a plate.
4. on block

Any others that you all can think of?

thats what i was thinking haha. not sure about the XJ but i know most newer cars have a sticker with the vin and a barcode on almost every non electrical part that can be unbolted from it.

Most new cars electronics have the VIN flashed into every chip when it is connected to the computer, once its flashed it will only read that vin and can only be replaced by a virgin component. modern wrenching can be a PITA.

Frame rails to sometimes. A lot of newer model have them on every body part. (thought of opening a chop shop)

found another one on the front of the front frame crossmember. last 8 digits of VIN.

I know that most frames do as well, but since there really is no 'frame' on the Cherokee, didn't know if there would be or not.

I'm just trying to figure out how many places I have to grind that pesky ID number off of!! No chop shop here...not enough room or tools, yet.

Oh, OK. So it's ditching, not chopping

It might be a bit of a haul for you, but there's always the dodgy part of a border town / keys left on the seat option. I hear that solves many vehicular disposal issues.

If the drive doesn't sound appealing, though, there's always a second option. Mind you, you'd probably want to make a vat of the stuff capable of vapourising the entire vehicle in one pass. Building that might be slightly inconvenient, but would do the job.
