Ok gang, I am in the works of trying to get the details worked out on purchasing the 99 from Jason, but the transporting to MO is what we are trying to work out. It has some minor road wandering issues that have me not wanting to drive it 10 hours home. Anyone up for transporting it part of the way for some $$$$?? I can get it transported via trucking company for @ $500. If I could get it worked out to get it as far as St. Louis, that would even be a great help. Any ideas or volunteers?

The jeep is just east of Lexington. Same guy I bought mine from. Tyler, what wandering issues does it have? I can go pick it up and drive to Matt's in STL and rent a cheap car to drive home.

I want to say the steering gear is worn. There is play in the steering and wants to wonder. There is no DW or jerking left or right when you hit a bump. All the tie rod ends are new including the tie rod on the adj. track bar. I drive it daily about 30 miles round trip to work hitting speeds 55-65 at times. If I get a chance after work, I'll have a shop in town that has done some work for me in the past look at it in the next couple days. I'm not a front end expert.

Throw a quarter turn on the adjuster bolt and see if it takes the slop out. The gearbox will probably need to be replaced anyway, but this may tighten it up for the trip home.

Where in KY? I could possibly get it to St Louis for a little $$$. Looks like round trip for me would be around $150 in gas. (that's figuring on the high side)

JR, that would be awesome, I would def pay for fuel and kick ya a little for food and your troubles.

If you need somewhere safe for it to be in the STL area it would be safe in my driveway for as short or as long as you need.

Matt, I appreciate that man, I may have to take you up on it. Ideally I could meet the person transporting it and just put it right on the trailer and roll north, but things dont always work out as I envision :D

I may be able to help too, depending where at in KY, im near the TN-KY line at I-24

I will need to look at the map and see if that falls along the route. I may take you up on it.

Flex, that may work as well. Possibly catch a 1 way ticket out of STL home for ya. They are pretty cheap if booked early.

Thanks for the offers fellas, I would like to get something put together soon if we can get it to work.

Thanks,
Cheeseman

Just let me know Tyler. I'd be happy to help and if need be it can be kept at my house for any amount of time you need. I'm ~2.5 hours from Jason so that would cut some time off a trip if you decided to come tow it home. I drove mine to Moab and back with worn TRE's so this should be about the same! :D

I am not wanting to drive it that far just bc it is uncomfortable for me to be in a XJ that long. I am getting fickle in my old age, I like a nice riding vehicle for long trips...that is why I bought the new Denali :D It is honestly just going to be a rig for the 1-2 times a year I may get to wheel and for Camille to drive back and forth vs putting miles and fuel through the Dodge or Denali. Oh, and something I can fab up a few new "Cheeseman Fab" items for....the fab time has been limited the past year and I have the itch to build some stuff that does not have to be show quality like everything on the 68. That project has about worn me slick......
