Vegas to Reno prep work is under way!

dnf, chased those problems into pit 14 and the parts ended up being wrong. The last group in damaged the car quite a bit too, so baja is questionable at this point. I'm sad, angry, disappointed, tired, medicated, and a bit delirious.

How did they damage it?

Too bad about the DNF. Hope it was a blast anyway.

Bet you never thought the air filter was going to be a serviceable item during the race, did you? 'Same thing happened to us when we ran VtoR. Silt sucks!

What ended up finishing your race: mechanical or suspension?

So here its what happened. One of the owners decided to put a driver in the car who had no race experience if any kind in the car at pit 11.

Not knowing how to handle obstacles, handle the car, or what kinds of speeds to carry, he went out full bore.

Results were he went through big whoops hammer down until he nosed into one hard. The only thing we got through radio was a broken ignition rotor so we began chasing parts.

results are a heavily tweaked chassis, broken motor mount, broken distributor, U-shaped rear axle, broken wheel, couple bent wheels, drive line into oil pan, bent front axle, missing grille, busted up front, passenger door doesn't open.

Needless to say, not sure if we will continue to shoot for the 1000.

Ouch,.. Both axles?

Sounds like things are pretty torn up. Good luck getting it back together. 'Hope your back feels better.

Yup both axles are pretty effed up.

Bright side, my 126 mile leg went really well, and had us in second place at RM 159 when I got out. And my back feels good.

With fewer drivers and driver changes, a bit better pit strategy, and without that damage, I think we could've given 1748 a run for his money.

wow i'd love to see video of that hit, sounds like a big one. I'm assuming everyone walked away in good shape? if so then all is not lost, with that amount of damage things could have gotten bad quick.

is the latch on the door jammed, or is it just not able to pull open? if you can get it open you might be able to take some shims out from behind the hinges to get it to open and close again, or put a porta-power in the doorway and stretch it out. it doesn't have to be perfect to race :D

Good luck, I hope you choose to rebuild it! This is one of my favorite race rigs, mainly because we watched it be built to it's current status right here on this forum.
