v8 guys mpg braggin rights!!

the only thing that worked was the headlights when i bought it. No dash, hot wired starting everything was rigged all made right. So i bought a jeep that i wanted to build myself but i dont have 20gran or time to sink in it. Before my srt4 i thought people that bought cars or jeeps already built were stupid because y would u buy something u didnt build and then take the credit for it? Um not taking the credit. The answer to that question is a smart man. now i understand.

there are two guys with 318's on here. I think there is at least one 350 as well. If you go over to comancheclub.com i think there are 3 guys with V8s over there.

the V8 is not a common swap because of its complexity. And because stroking a I6 or swapping in motors like 4.3s are an easier swap for similar power gains. Don't get me wrong, V8s make good power when built right. But a stroker can make the same power, and in a cherokee usually for much less money. You have a vette motor which is a different animal than the common V8. 305s make ok power, but nothing spectacular. the average 350 is a little better. Ideal starts with the LT4 and LSx series motors. But they cost more off the bat than a stroker does finished and running.

nobody jealous...ive got a YJ with a 350 in it.

i started looking at putting a 350 in my cherokee. while doing some research, i found that a 4.9 stroker makes more HP, and has a better torque curve then 350s. yea, 350s have the ability to make far more power then any 4.0 ever will.

but by the time you get a 350 built, get a new tranny, t-case, driveshafts..your talking big money. and that doesn't include the little stuff that will nickle and dime you to death

you can get a 4.9 stroker built for about 2500 bucks..less if you can do it yourself. still run stock computer, tranny, everything, and still be making more power for less then people who put v8s in their stuff

dont get me wrong, i LOVE my Yj with the 350, but if i ever did a motor swap in the cherokee, id probably go stroker to keep things simple

once again not debating stroker people u want a stroker build it put it in um happy for ya my work is cut out for me. Ill check that other website i would like to see another setup like mine.

You should try to stick with Corporate drivetrains for compatability and rightousness. Has anybody out there put a V10 in their XJ yet? Please post pictures.

because corporate drivetrains are a horrible swap is why most people go with the chebbie motors. Novak has a good writeup on engine swaps in their Q&A section on their webpage.

I am reasonably sure that a V10 will not fit in a cherokee bay. I could be wrong though.

It won't reasonably fit. I did some measuring myself. A Jaguar V12 won't fit either... yeah.. I was thinking off the wall and doing something completely different. I'm sure with extensive firewall modifications you can get either of them to fit though. I have seen a Viper V10 in a few TJs though.
