USPS quit delivering my mail?

I got the issue resolved today.

First I went out and chipped the ice the mandatory 30' on each side of the box and all the way to the grass (yes now my back and arms are wore out). Then I waited for the mailman!

At 1:15pm he rolled around the block and when he reached my box I greeted him at the end of the driveway and very politely asked him if the box was clear enough and he said "This is great compared to other boxes!"

I asked him if he would please let me know if the box was undeliverable again so I could work with him on it and he responded that our last mail carrier had retired and last Saturday was his last day. Monday was a holiday so there was no mail delivered. The notice never made it to my box.

He went on to tell me and very politely I might add that they are only allowed to get out of the truck for the first few days after a storm, then after that they have to be able to drive up to your box. He said that if a mail carrier slides on ice/snow and hits a box they are immediately fired from their job so they will not deliver unless it is safe to do so. Any way he is a nice guy and we will get along just fine from now on.

Nope, never have at this location. Actually I don't know anyone in my neighborhood who does that. When I lived on the farm we did leave a Christmas present but those rural route drivers catch hell during the winter. The suburban drivers have it easy.

I have the box completely cleared of ice/snow in front of it and 12 feet to each side of it all the way to the yard. There is no reason why this person is not delivering my mail and if there is a reason, a notice would be nice.

I never did in the city either. They bitched so much over anything they could find I wouldn't dream of leaving them anything but a brown bag on fire.

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"

That is not the official motto or creed of the USPS--they don't actually have one.

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds"
Here's a slightly different version from a book I read:

"Neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night can stray these messengers about their duty.
(Don't ask us about: Rocks, Trolls with sticks, All sorts of dragons, Mrs Cake, Huge green things with teeth, Any kind of black dog with orange eyebrows, Rain of spaniels, Fog, Mrs Cake.)

Weird I live in VA too, my rents house got their mail no problem and the plow's put over 4 feet (tall) of snow infront of mail box, I guess where there's a will there's a way, and where there's lazyness there's an excuse. But I would like to rant about my apt mail service!!! They always but people's mail in wrong boxes, I had an important document that was supposed to come in the mail and because the mail guy neglected to put it in the right box it was sent back to the sender, so I had em send it to my parents house got it the next day...I have some choice words for my mail guy as well I feel your pain
