UPS has ruined off-roading!!!

Jump This

Just another minion!
I half to admit, right now, that a single event has completely changed my perception of the off-road mail order/retail industry.
There was a time when you could exspect two to three weeks for delivery. What with the middle man.......the prevailing ineptitude of the delivery industry and the sorry excuse for training given those who actually took the orders, you would be dreaming if you thaught you would get it any sooner than that REGARDLESS of what the order clerk told you.
That was then...any you know....this is NOW!
The quality of UPS (the vast majority of the time) means any delays fall right into the lap of the retail sector!
Remember when orders where 'phoned' in to the manufacturer?
Or when you would need to actually visit the retailers brick and mortar showroom to either order OR pick up you purchase? Not any longer!! Time being valuable and all....
You know what? Some retailers have actually been pulling it off!!!I kid you not! Not long ago I ordered from a well known retailer...I think I phoned in the order at about 2:00pm. The phone jockey was on top of it...and the NEXT DAY my tires and rims were delivered to my door!Just stunned me...thaught is was just too cool...So I tried it again...I called another retailer and told them what I wanted...and lo and behold...just two days later, UPS delivers my parts...I'm thinking this is a trend!
So soon I am exspecting this kinda service from all the venders I work with.....this was missplaced admiration.....I mean setting the bar so HIGH....now I'm pissed....been waiting for an entire week for parts that were promised to be delivered within three days....not from just one retailer...but three! I am leaving Sunday...jeeps not ready and NOW I'm told at least one of the deliveries won't make it before next thursday...when I'm gone...
I THINK I NEED TO CHILL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
....and just be glad that the rig doesn't need a whole lot of help to make it work just fine....
Thank you...I feel better now.....(missed therapy yesterday...was kinda getting on the edge)

I 'think' that besides a set of KC Daylighters from Wrenchead.com, every single "mail order' purchase I have made for my Jeeps has been phoned in and shipped in a timely manner.

Sometimes UPS is slow, since I live in a rural area...(once a week UPS route unless it's blue or red label) but usually within a week of the order, my new stuff is on hand. The only exceptions to this were a limited slip that took 2 weeks (the vendor advised he'd have to order it from the mfgr) and a set of xenon bulbs that were backordered (again, I was aware of that when I ordered)

I don't "expect" that great service every time, but am pleasently surprised when I get it.

I feel for ya missing your order due to time constraints. That's happened to me before too...just wheel it as it is :dunno:

I've had trouble with mail order in the past when I was aceing and since then i normally deal with a couple local shops to help keep them going since time after time they seem to have what i need when out of time and need a part now. every oncee In a while will I do a phone in order and the last time it took a month to get my parts when they said they ship the next day and i know UPS since I worked there and They waited 3 weeks to ship the stuff.

Shizzle happens man, get over it!

I have seen $5 parts get mis-routed and a 1.5 million dollar machine is unable to ship and be BILLED! due to the lack of the $5 part being there in time.

So just when you think you got it bad.......

I think I was just venting....I sat around stewing and needed an outlet. So all of you got to hear my sad tale. I'm over it now! The Jeep is fine...just not as fine as I wanted it to be....
BTW the fast order companies I mentioned were Bilstien shocks and Fullerton Tire. I live in the waaay rural area of San Diego county. There is not a single stop light within 50 miles of my house. And not a off-road retail outlet within 75mi. So....I rely on the internet to order most of my misc. shmagma.
I hope I didn't come over as a two bit winer....

Yes you did and I'm offended. Your treading on my turf.

Bitching and whining are my job.

At least you didn't have someone tell you a receipt was needed to exchange a battery that he installed (remember installing it) come back later and still have him tell you NO. When I smarted off and told him it was a bull sh** store. He told me "Get the F*** out of my store looser".

I lost my temper and was ready to kick his head in. My dad reminded me that wasn't the way to handle it by trying to jump the guy first. :) I stopped dad and we left. He is going to file a complaint with the BBB and I'm going to contact the mfg and complain.

I stopped buying there two years ago (this was the last battery I had bought) when this guy took over the management. He told me if I wasn't going to buy $2K a month they didn't want to deal with me. The funny part was he couldn't name anyone that was buying that many. I took my small $500/mth account elsewhere.

Does anybody have a link Standard Batteries?

These large companies are driving customer service into the crapper.

Later,
Lincoln
