Upgraded gears in your Daily Driver

Thats what I'm running and well worth the money IF you want to stay stock width, keep it a driver/solid weekend warrior and get all of the ground clearance you can with the little D-30 in the front.

I'm happy wit my set-up with no issues pounding on it with 35's

Exactly what I'm going for. My jeep won't see over 33's due to it being hard to me to get into beyond that because of my disability.

Once thing is for sure, stay away from USA standard.

I bought my rear 8.25 from a member on here, good deal at $250 bucks, and geared to 4.56. I'm pretty sure the shop that did it used USA standard gears.

I couldn't pass it up, but holy crap... it WHINES like you would not believe. Extremely loud screaming high pitch ring and pinion noise. The pattern is perfect, and I've got probably 30,000 miles on it, with no issue.

It's such an obnoxious noise that I might actually shell out the cash to fix it, so the moral is... Cheapest isn't actually always the cheapest, because you'll do it twice.

I put Yukons in the front, and dumped the coin for Chrysler gears out back(it's a C-8.25 out back) based on the advice from both a Dodge/Jeep mechanic friend and Randy's R&P website. The Chrysler gears had a noticeably better machine finish on the gear teeth then the Yukons. They're quiet on the street.

From the research I did, USA standard is about as cheap as they get, and as crappy as they get. I have Alloy USA's 4.10's and they're quiet as a mouse. For seals and bearings I used all SKF. Everything was top notch, went together perfect, and was made in Japan or the USA, with the exception of one bearing race that was made in India.

DD with 31 or taller, go with 4.56's. 4.88's on the D30 have a 2 tooth contact vs 3 tooth. I've had Yukons in my 44 for about 5 years now no problems. 4.56's are easier on the transmission and engine. You're not going to really be driving it over 70 or so anyway.

I did DD'ing in my rig for about 18 months with stock gears and 32's, and I put it past 80 very frequently. Heck, my last trip to South Carolina my average speed was 83 the entire trip. 4.10's are perfect for me. Put it just a hair about 2500 at 80. It's all preference, but 4.56' would have been a little steeper than I liked.

If you're not doing the gears yourself, make sure you see the pics of the final setup.

If you haven't done lockers yet, go with a full time front and a selectable rear. Makes turning easy.
