ungrateful

i posted this at lunch and just returned from a late dinner out. now this is fun, at least we all agree, LOL.... now i know this topic has been discussed a little before, but it isn't like a" sye kit" thread, this is an ongoing day to day living breathing topic, and as such can be banterd back and forth and updated as needed, or wanted, besides, this is a free country, and i wanted fresh responses. to be continued, i'm sure. especially by those who don't want to, it seems .

Arabs have nothing to do with this. This is about misguided American foreign policy loosely disguising the Oil-ocracy's interests in maximizing profits...

1. What about the responsibility of the British (and other old European colonial powers) who carved up the current Middle Eastern nations and set in motion the hatred of the Israeli state and the West in general? As loyal subjects of the British Crown, Canadians' hands are no cleaner than ours.

2. America's military actions are condemned loudly by Canada/Europe, as they quietly fuel their private cars and military vehicles with the oil they claim is the reason we went to war. If the secret reason truly was oil, then the rest of the world are hypocrites using fuel bought with the lives of American servicemen. If you can think for yourself, and know that oil isn't the reason, then the "war for oil" accusation spits on the graves of fallen American/British servicemen.

Way off homie. What are you, in Junior High?

yeah whether the reasons we went are sound or not, it sure hasn't helped our oil prices. i remember when the "war" started, a guy at work was runnin his mouth that we were just goin over for the oil. boy i wish that were true now. i told him he was crazy and recently i asked him" how 's all that cheap gas from the war working out from the for ya." he he...... no coherent response.......

I'm a few beers in myself - distorted and fuzzy thought should be no impedance to arguing on the internet.

Beej, I'm not in Jr High, but I'll admit enough booze can make me behave like a 14 year old.

So, with that said, blurry keyboard and all, what specifically do you take issue with?

So, when we talk of "sense" and "same side", it seems clear what side Lebanon is on, no? I mean they voted the crazies in to office, knowing full well what they represent and how they started.

Yeah, they started, to fight the Israeli occupation after they invaded in '82 and the Reagan administration bailed out in '84. What they represent, Israel, among other forces, staying the hell out of Lebanon.

I'll drop my 2 cents in this mess.
If that's the prupose of Hezbollah then why did they have to start shooting rockets across the border.
Everyone condemns Israel for a harsh reaction, I just wonder what our reaction would be is a group in mexico started firing rockets into Houston.
The whole thing is a clusterfawk, but technically Hezbollah started this shit storm.
Hell, we almost went to war in the 60's because of the threat of missiles in Cuba.

Why would you start throwing rocks at the lion in the zoo and then complain when he comes out of his cage and kicks your ass?

Their are two groups of countries in this world, those that harbor terrorists and those that don't. If you don't want bombed, don't have terrorists in your country.

Edit - Maybe having France involved with Hezbollah is a good thing. They can teach them how to drop their weapons and surrender.

I'm not supporting either side. I personally think they are both to blame. They have both made political errors that have aided the continuation of this dispute since its inception in 1967. Do a little research on the Shebaa Farms or Golan Heights. And for those that think Hezbollah is nothing but a group of Terorrists. They do have and extensive Social Developement program. "The group currently operates at least four hospitals, 12 clinics, 12 schools and two agricultural centres that provide farmers with technical assistance and training. It also has an environmental department and an extensive social assistance programme. Medical care is also cheaper than in most of the country's private hospitals and free for Hezbollah members" I think the UK has it right in only declaring The Hezbollah External Security Organization (the Militant Wing of Hezbollah) as a terrorist organization. Where as the US has condemned the whole lot of them.
