Uncle Ronnie's Tax Idea

I completely disagree with your political opinion, but am willing to entertain an argument.
If you look at this page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_budget

You will see that

You will see that the US spent nearly 3.5 T Dollars while revenue came in at 2.2 T Dollars.

Now also on that graph, you will see that corporate tax counts for 9% of our income.

So heck, lets do something drastic, lets DOUBLE our tax rate for coprorations, so that instead of getting 9 $ we get 18. So now instead of getting 191 B we get 392 Bil Dollars. We still fall short by around 1 Trillion dollars.

So what I am saying is that it is simply impractical to raise Corp Taxes. The answer is to cut spending on entitlement programs. We just dont have the money.

Curious, who are you employed by?

I work for a soul-less entity that acts without conscience.:anon:
Kinda like most corporations.
Why do you ask? Are you thinking I should be grateful for "evil corporations" because they butter my bread? Ha what a laugh that is.
They should be thankful there are peons willing to do the work necessary for shareholders and execs to get rich and throw me a cookie.

Companies are not here for us, we're here for them. The government is here for us. Although, if you happen to be a contributor, and only about half are, we are here to support them.

in case no one has said it: thank you.

would you like your cookie now, or after you pay the additional "corporate taxes" with lower wages, higher priced goods, and fewer benefits?

It's you, the worker, who should be thankful that the "soul-less entity" has managed to remain solvent and is willing to risk your salary pay on an unsure return on their investment.

Kind of a catch-22 as a corporation cannot function without this.

 well said!

No, they have a conscience. They need to make a profit. Whether or not you want to think of it in those terms, they need to end up with more money left over than what they spent to do whatever it is that they do. This way, they have a need for you and your fellow workers. I've worked for great people, and I've worked for pricks. I've done work I love, and things I didn't like so much. But if I don't help the employer profit, why am I even there? I've worked at jobs I've liked, for people I didn't like so much. At the end of the week, all they owe me is a paycheck, nothing more. And I owe them my best effort in order to get that check.

Seriously, if you don't like working for your 'soulless' employer, you are free to go elsewhere. Maybe not now or next week, but you do have the freedom, and hopefully the ability to do so. Or, buy a bunch of stock, and look around, and see what you could do to make things better, and, horrors, make some money yourself!

but if they cant get it here they will get it somewhere else... like china ;)

werd-- someone is always willing to do what you do (sometimes just as well, or better) for what you make or less.

You have no right to work where you do-- if you don't agree with the employer's decisions on how they run their business, leave. If you stay under the pretense that you are "all in" for the business, it is you that is "soul-less" in your practices.

I agree. The corporate tax rate in the U.S. is one of the highest in the world. Now I know that an argument can be made that loopholes in the tax code make it so that U.S. corporations pay about average with other industrialized nations. Perhaps closing the loopholes AND lowering the rate to stimulate hiring and innovation could be achieved. Regardless, the largest effect in the here and now is to roll back discretionary funding to 2008 levels. After that the pols can reform the budgetary process to prevent discretionary funding from geting out of hand as it is now.

INCREASES IN SPENDING UNDER OBAMA
Category..........2008....2010....% Incr
Welfare............$260....$400....54%

Medicare..........$456....$528....16%
Social Security..$612....$700....14%
Defense............$612....$690....11%

Attempt at reading my mind = FAIL

I was simply wondering what you are basing your opinion on; personal experience or simply regurgitating HP's opinion.

I work for a private corporation that has allowed me to earn more money each year than the previous, based on my efforts. In fact, with my new comp plan, I can give myself a $40-50k annual raise, simply by working a little harder/smarter.

We also have a branch in Minneapolis, perhaps you should apply, so you too can be properly rewarded for your efforts in excelling at what you do?

PS, they also have a decent healthcare plan.....I think it might even cover the removal of the huge chip that you have on your shoulder.
