turbo diesel XJ

I just found an XJ with a turbo diesel sitting in a field. Does anyone have any info on the diesel? Are they junk or not? Any info would be great.

It is a 2.1L renault diesel. They were not made for many years, dropped in 87 or 88. Parts are hard to find, and tend to be expensive. They do not share any engine parts(starter, altenator, etc) with the gasoline fired cousins.
