I would liie to hear more comparing Truxus MT to MT/R or BFG MT, especially from drivers who have had more than one brand; on-and-off road, and as DD. I plan on running 31, 32, or 33".
Thanks,
I have had all three of those tires. As mentioned elsewhere in this thread, the BFG's sidewalls suck!, the MTR's are virtually bulletproof in the rocks, not so hot in wet driving conditions, don't do too well in the mud (I HATE mud) and are just generally noisey. The TrXus M/Ts are the best do it all tires I've ever owned and I've owned alot of different brands of tires--------Hans

Here in texas, I seem to be one of the only guys running these tires, but they've lasted through 2 years of wheeling without a single cut, and there is still a bit of tread left. These tires are great for any kind of terrain you'd like to run, whether it's rocks, mud, rain, loose dirt, whatever. They hold up great, and at a low psi, they grip amazingly. They are pretty heavy though, my 34's weighed in at about 84 lbs a piece on average.

First trip out on my new mt's I aired them down to 12-13 psi. Terrain was deep-v ruts with little to no rocks (Bartlett lake, AZ) Apparently I pinched the sidewall and took a big chunk out of the sidewall. The other side flexed enough to allow small rocks to enter between the rim and bead causing air to leak out. I have to purchace another tire to replace the one with the hole in it and use this one for a spare. I now keep the psi about 18-20 so traction has been affected.

Street characteristics are great although I can't tell you about rain or snow because we hardly get that here. I think my next set will be swamper tsl again. Loud as a locomotive but super strong. I could run those at 8 psi all day and never have a problem.

I would check into the Maxxis Bighorn Radial..

very nice tire.... good price.... Quiet on the street

I have set for my DD duties and really like them.

You can get the 35's new at some tire stores for under $140 each

They work well, ride great on the road, balance nice, wear great.....

cant beat them for the money

Search here, Jeepin.com, jeepforum.com and pirate4x4. 99% say:

MT/R =rocks, dirt, no mud
KMs = mud and non sharp rocks, thin sidewalls
Trxus MTs = great all around in everything.

Search? What is that?:geek:

my only complaint with them is the sidewalls, i tore a huge hole in one the first wheeling trip, and put a nice big gouge in another a couple trips later

ive also had a frind blow a nice big sidewall tear in one

other than that and the balance issue, i really love the tires, but next time i will probably go for something that has stronger sidewalls

I run my 33's at 15 psi just becuase I have heard about soft side walls. they seem to do well up here in the northwest were we have more roots and stumps than rocks. pack with thick mud pretty quickly but moderate wheelspin takes care of that. they make less noise than my old bfg all terrains on road, but I have had major balancing issues. Requiring in excess of 16 oz of weight per tire vibes start at 35 and by 60 it feels like I am going to shake right off the highway. If I was running tsl's or such I would accept it, but for a tire that interco put out to compete against the popular mt's I guess that I am a little dissapointed, will probably go to the new toyo's when I go up to 35's

I've had, Trxus, GY MTR's, SS Ltb's, TSL SX's, BFG MT's, and KO AT's.

The Trxus is the best all around tire. Expect long wear, and great overall traction on the road and off. They are quiet for a mud tire. The Trxus beats the MTR off road especially in the mud. They also resist chunking in the rocks.

GY MTR's are the worst attempt for an everything tire in my opinion. I got talked into these on my dd ( they are 35's), and wished I had passed. They are horrible after a few thousand miles. They are loud, terrible in the rain on the road. Suck in the mud off-road. You need to rotate them every 2000 miles, or they will wear flat, and end up like a brick. I hate GY, and these will be the last GY tires I ever buy. Even though they do look cool...

LTB's rock off road, absolutley suck on the road.

TSL's, well they are awesome off-road in everything. On the road they are tollerable.

BFG's are ok MT's still not as good as the TRXUS, and the AT is great in everything but mud. They are lousy in the mud.

I think they are one of the Best tires out there.
Awesome on the road and very nice on the trails.

Plus I can air them down to 10 with out any issues !!
