Trails in North Alabama?

Well, when I moved to Mobile for college in the fall I didn't expect all of the places I ride to be gated or developed before I got back for summer, but they did. Sice then I have been getting kind of edgy not being able to do any riding. Do any of ya'll know of anything that even resembles trails around the Huntsville area. I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this but maybe someone will be able to surprise me. Thanks

I live in madison!! About an hour South of here in Hanceville a new ORV park just opened up. It's a weekend park, with wheeling on saturdays. It's got varying difficulty from the pleasure riding stock 4x4 to the extreme buggie types.

It's got a mud pit, and 4,000 acres of reserved land for the park, with over a 100 miles of trails to ride.

Other than that, there is a lot of private land. Living in the foothills of the Appalachians we have some interesting wheeling. My suggestion, if your looking to wheel and gonna be in the Northen Alabama area, check out CAOS 4x4, and Rocket City rock Crawlers. RCRC is located in huntsville, and has a lot of knowledgeable members.

There is a trail south-east of birmingham, but that's a long drive, and would be a weekend camping trip. The trail in Hanceville has primitive camping sites, night ride on saturday, day ride on I think friday AND saturday, and camping...i have no clue

There is also fishing for those who like to do that in the evenings to unwind after a long day of wheeling ^.^

www.wheelininthecountry.com in summertown, TN itis a ORV park. It is a good day or weekend ride. 1 hour and 15 min. from the elkmont exit. Also there is Wooly's Offroad. They have a website but can't think of it right now. It is new and getting started. Also don't forget www.Grayrockorv.com Great park. Mild to wild and offers anything you could imagine. It is located south near gardendale.

I have been to all 3 of those.

Black Cherokee Classic, 3", still running little tires, black prerunner bumper with two lights, Lots of stickers on back window, and CB antenna. What does yours look like? For some reason I think I might have seen you too.

A little off topic...Where to ride in mobile area?

Pretty much no where. I am still looking down there but havent had much luck. Pretty bad transition from living my whole life surrounded by cotton fields to living in the middle og Mobile.

For free wheeling, try the TVA trail system known as Waterloo/Bruton Branch on the north side of Pickwick Lake. Just be carefull and go with someone who knows the area, as there is alot of private lands that intermingle with the TVA land. Also, in certain spots on the main access road into the area that seem to be the way to go but are bad, I mean real bad!!!
