Trade your XJ for a fuel sipper?

I've got car ADD like a mofo so I'm just throwing this out there. Anybody want to trade a clean XJ (h.o. 4.0L and NP231, no renix) for my 96 VW Golf? Its got about 118,000 miles on it, averages over 30mpg, 5spd manual, aftermarket cd player with IPOD integration, new tint, coilovers, short shifter, and two sets of rims with damn goood tires on them. One set are generic alloys with near new studded snow tires and the other set are Schmidt Modernline 1pc (google them, their pricey)15x8's with Nokian summer tires. On a trip to El Paso and back it averaged over 36mpg fully loaded with the wife, kid, and I and the A/C on max the entire time.

Now it has all of the black rub strips/door mouldings and the holes by the front turn signals have kamei vent scoops installed.

I'm not really looking to sell it, but as I said I have car car ADD and I just plain miss having an XJ. I'd be looking for a stock or near stock and in clean condition. Mileage isn't an issue for me as long as its in good shape. If I were selling it I'd be looking for about 3000$ with everything and I'd throw in a factory service manual (almost 100$).

I can attest that it also has sparkling new wheel bearings! Good luck finding a trader, Rich, ya never know...

Like I said, I'm just throwing it out there. Its not on craigslist or anything and I'm not counting on anything but you never know. The fuel economy was really nice when I was driving to Loveland almost everyday, but now that I'm not I want another XJ. I only drive about 10-15miles a day now so I'm not worried about cutting my mileage almost in half, although it would be weird to go have to fill up more than twice a month. :D

If my kid keeps screwing up in school, I might have a 97 XJ available next year.

Sparkly new wheel bearing, and good brakes. Power steering too. I've owned every form of Golf from 1978 through 2000 (and yes I am aware that in North America they were called Rabbits from 1976-1984) including the pickup, plus a few Sciroccos too. If there is one vehicle I go more crazy for than Jeeps its VW's. Although now that I've owned and wrenched on all the ones I can afford I'm a bit bored with them. I'm also not into Auto-X like I used to be, nor am i into canyon carving and getting speeding tickets like I used to be. I love 4wheeling, have since I was a kid, and now I'm at the point where I'd rather do that as a motorhobby than anything else.

Might try Craigslist if I had a stock xj I'd trade

Not that strong of a desire I guess, and when you post up on Craigs looking to trade you get every jackass in the world offering anything from a 76 K2500 to a beat to shit Integra, even though you specified the exact vehicle you are looking for. I don't have time for that bs

Sounds good to me :D But hopefully he/she get their act together.

One of my many VW's was a 98 Golf that I did a Jetta front end on. I love a clean 4 door hatch almost as much as a wagon.

Hatchbacks and wagons are the best, so much more storage room and usefulness. Thats why I like XJ's, they're like the ultimate offroading station wagons :D

I never was a big fan of Jolfs and Gettas, excpet maybe on the MKIV chassis. I do like a MK1 Jetta with a single round headlight Golf frontend though.

And after putting 300miles on my freshly topped off 13gal tank I still have just over a 1/4tank left :D
