I'd keep my XJ and work on it myself, but I just don't have the garage or tools to do it. I'm looking to buy a replacement XJ, YJ or preferrably TJ. I'm offering my '96 XJ for trade as a great platform for a project.

It runs smooth. 4" Rusty's lift. Chrys 8.25" rear akle upgrade. 3 core radiator. Recently replaced Alternator, Steering box, and Steering Stabilizer.

Pictures are available here. I had a car pull out in front of me a couple of months ago, and a tree fell on it a few weeks ago. It's just too much body work to be done for me to be willing to pay to have done. Would be a great base for a Cheromanche or convertible project.

I'm near Pontiac. I'm looking to get maybe $500 to $1000. Adding to it $1000 to $2000 in cash, maybe more. Not looking for a super wheeler, just a daily driver with some mild mods.

I know it's not worth much on the resale market. But I know it has a lot of parts in it that could make a jeeper very happy to not have to get from a junk yard, at the least. If I don't find anything here, I'm planning to "push, pull, or drag it in" to a dealership.

Jeep is still up for trade. Might consider a straight sale of this Jeep is the price is right.

so your outright price is $500-$1000? This is what I got out of your post up there.

Also, in your pics, the roof is all smashed, is it still that way? Guessing it is with your first post about Cheromanche.

As a parts donor in a straight sell, $500 is about what I'll be offered. I'm hoping for closer to $1000, though. For someone with the time and tools, this can be a great project base. I may decide to part it out if I can get something else to drive.

I would love to do the work myself, but I don't have the tools, and I'm not willing to pay the labor costs for a garage to fix it up. If there's someone in the area that does, and would be willing to help, we can talk. I should be able to make it worth your while.

Yes, the roof is still smashed. That was from the tree falling on it. Back driver side window is also busted out. The body is the only bad part. Almost everything under the hood is good to great condition.

Engine is solid, had some oil seals replaced last year. Alternator is 2 years old. Lift and rear axle were put on Spring '08 by AllPro in Lansing (the axle was his, currently has a little play in the R&P).

A little more info:
I am the second owner, but it's single family. I can attest for every one of the 186k miles it has driven. I learned to drive in this Jeep. Part of the reason I hate to let it go.

Still looking for a sale or trade. I'll be in Lansing for the month of December, if anyone wants to take a look. $750 is the absolute lowest I will go on a straight sell. I've seen such junk on Craig's List going for $1000+, a lot of which can barely drive. The only major problem with this XJ is crushed roof. It's still road worthy, Drives tough. 15mpg city, 17 highway. It might be in need of a new fuel filter. First start of the day is rough, but once it warms up it's good for the day.

So the window on the passenger side were the tree fell is good? And the driver side window is blown out but easily replacable?

And 4" rustys? You sure its not 4.5"?

Yup, only window that is out is the rear driver's side. The limb that took out the window also left a slight dent in the frame. but it would only take short work with a hammer to straighten it out. Otherwise a new window would be no problem.

You are right, it is 4.5" Rusty's lift. Full pack, the original springs were way too shot to even think of an Add-a-Leaf.

Neither rear door can currently open, but they are intact. The pinch seam trim is blocking them in. I have tried opening them both and they do still work.

i really enjoy how long it takes the government to send a simple piece of paper to a person!!! lol

hopefully you get that title today. Would love to come pick this up tommorow.

Funny thing on that paper. I sent the form to the wrong state. The Jeep is Registered in Texas, but is originally and still titled in Colorado. I forgot that I did not retitle it when I registered in Texas 7 years ago. New form is being sent to Colorado, today.

thats funny that you should say that. I talked to this guy on the phone a couple weeks ago and was ready to go pick it up but he said he needed to get the title from Texas, although there's no lean on it. :dunno:

Fore 'wonder how many times he's gonna sell it' Wheeler
