Trade D35 for D44????

I ran across a guy who has an XJ w/D44. The gears went south and he doesn't care about having a D44, he needs a functional axle, and a D35 w/3.73 gears wold suit him. Anybody got a D35 to trade for a D44? You would have to do the gears on the D44, but you would most likely want to do that anyway. Just thought I would see if anybody local was interested.

I'm very interested. I have a D35 out of a '91.
I'm in Grand Junction, I could probably deliver the D35.
Do you have any more info on the D44? Is he going to need help swapping it out and is he in a hurry?

It is in Fort Collins and I think he would need help in swaping it. I have not personally seen it but I can take a look. I should be talking to him this morning.

Hey, put me down as second on the list... I'm in fort collins too, have an axle from a 92 with those specs, and would be intersted in the trade. He wants to trade straight up?

Edit: Woohoo! My name is finally in red! Now, where to mount that decal... :)

He's in Fort Collins. I haven't talked to him this weekend. He was hoping for a straight swap and some help in doing the swap. It should be a no-brainer.

depending what day the swap goes down I might be able to lend a hand as well. Let me know.

I think this sounds like fun, and a good opportunity to learn some things too. If it works out that the swap will be made with Atch then I'd still like to be invited to watch, if you guys are ok with that? I've been wanting to meet some of you guys, and this seems like a good opportunity. Let me know how this plays out!

I'll prolly be able to lend a hand if needed Tom, just shoot me a pm.

The guy is waffleing on this. His mechanic has now told him that the noise was from the tranny, not the rearend. I am supposed to go take a look to verify.

Thanks a million, Tom. I'm amazed at the offers of help. I've helped on this sort of thing twice before, so I think I could stumble though it, but extra brains and muscle would be greatly appreicated. It sounds like the guy just wants his rig working agian. No problem with that. From his point of view there is no point in swapping the axle if it doesn't fix the problem. Let me know.

It looks like I have to dis-qualify myself. After going over to a friends house to look at the axel, I found out that it has 3.07 gears.
