towing

as big as you can store and tow.

no one ever said "man, I wish I didn't have all this extra room on my trailer"

18 ft is the smallest I would go. you can get an XJ on a 16, but doesn't leave you a lot of room for adjustment, or anything else.

I own a 7x12 7k and store a buddy's 7x20 10k, I tend to use both, Both have pro's and cons. Storing the smaller one is easier in tighter areas such as a driveway. I honestly prefer towing the 7x20 just because its a 10k trailer and I feel more secure being at 60% capacity vs 100% with the smaller one, That's more of an issue for me then deck size

If I had $2500 cash. I would buy a new 10k.. But if I didn't, and found a shorter deck for half the price. I would probably go that route also. Aslong as it has good axles, good brakes, good tires, and lights.

i picked up a 8x20 10k rated trailer not the prettyest but its a nice trailer, two 6000lb 8 lug axels , i need to redue part of the wiring, well i have 1 blinker out, i went over all the welds and repainted it with rustolium, , its great, i paid 1100$ for it,

i was limted because my keep is 6.5 inches wide and i saw alot of 6x14s and such but it would not fit, now i have like lots of space lol
