Towing Transmission Selection

Can you guys tell me what gear you keep your transmission in when towing? I know they say youre not supposed to tow in overdrive. Is there a way to not select overdrive for AW4? AW4 is a 4+O/D correct? Thanx!

The AW-4 is very stout. For a rule of thumb, if the trans is shifting in and out of OD alot then keep it in D. The ECM wants to keep the trans in OD as much as possible.

The AW-4 is 3 + OD. For towing, put it in "3"

Thats sorta what I am wondering...my selector says 1-2, 3, and circled D. I assume keep it in Circled D.

That circle would be an O as in OD, as in overdrive. Tow with it in the 3 position.

Really depends upon what you're towing. My little 500 pound boat tows just find in overdrive.
